I got turned off to Dr. Carson, not that I don't admire greatly in his greatness as a Dr. but his religious part to me doesn't belong in politics, that should be put aside..

| Religion was introduced in a big way by the candidancy of Ronald Reagan. His political strategy to use religion won him the election. GWB followed suit. For me, any reference to religion in a political speech is a turn-off. The private lives of the candidates are exposed during an election. Although that may include the religious preference of the candidate, it should not be used as promotion. That is where "Separation of church and state" becomes an early indication of what can be expected. Either the candidate is intending to govern a nation based on the laws of the land and upholding the constitution, or he/she is running for some post in a religious organization. The danger of America becoming a religious State is real. When we witness and criticize governments controlled by religious leaders in the Middle East, it should be an example and a warning for us. |

Carter was religious...not very good at being a President of a country. Nixon had men brake into an office(Watergate) and steal files. Clinton , a married man had a young women under his desk doing what they should not have been doing. Bush Jr, well, to many things to post on him. George Washington...He took all the land that was set aside for the men who fought in the war to free this country from England. F.D.R...Winston led him around like a little puppy. Ike...Now there was a piece of work. When the war in Europe ended, Ike starved 1.7 million German POW's. The present president? I think they will write a song about him, "Bye, bye, America, land that we lost." I don't think it matters who is in the white house, or congress...this dance is near its end. Was it not Nimrod who was the first to set up a Government? Now there was a class act to run from. Who should be President? A New York Hooker? Maybe she could get the country out of debt by selling tricks. |

| Carly Fiornia ran HP into the ground and couldn't win a Senate seat despite out spending her opponent 7 to 1. She is not the next president of the United States. She won't even get farther than New Hampshire. |

| Bernie Sanders is not going to win the Democratic nomination. He may make it interesting, to be sure. It's Hillary's to lose.
On the Republican side:
Carly Fiorina: Polls so low as to be silly she's even bothering to run. Done after Iowa.
Ben Carson: About the same as Fiorina, may finish fourth in Iowa. Done after that. (By done I mean, done with any chance of winning, may campaign on for a few more primaries)
Ted Cruz: Second or third in Iowa. Will probably be a strong candidate for a while.
Mike Huckabee: Will win Iowa. Will probably fade after that. He has a track record of doing just that.
Rand Paul: May win Iowa, will solider on for a while. Hard to predict how strong he'll be going forward.
John Bolton: Who? That's what everyone in Iowa will be asking.
Rick Perry: Hard to see his appeal to any one, in or outside his party. Done after Iowa.
Mark Rubio: Hard to tell with him. His shifting positions make him tricky to predict. I'll say done after New Hampshire.
Undeclared but probable:
Joe Biden: The human gaffe machine doesn't stand a chance. If he's smart he won't run.
Scott Walker: Not a chance. May make things interesting in Iowa but that's about it.
Donald Trump: I'll donate $25 to the charity of your choice if he actually runs.
Bobby Jindal: Republican voters already have Mike Huckabee and Rick Perry, so really, what does Jindal bring to the table?
Chris Christy: Not a chance, he has been political toast for a while. Recent reports suggest he's figuring this out for himself.
Jeb Bush: The strongest Republican by far. He has some moderate bonafides which will help him in the general election but those some bonafides are poison to the deeply conservative voters in Iowa. My guess is if he runs, the Republicans will rally around him like they did Mitt Romney.
Who will be our next President? I have no idea. I am a member of the Green Party so I'm just an observer of these two parties.
Just my 2 cents.

| Joe, I don't understand why you call Bernie Sanders a "Big Communist". Is that something you dreamed up or repeating what some opponent said? He is promoting social services and I'm in full agreement with that. That includes preserving Social Security, Healthcare and Veterans benefits. He is a champion of the poorer citizens. When I read the Preamble to the Constitution, perhaps my interpretation is as different as with other interpretations. The clause: "Promote the General Welfare and secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity." The general welfare is a big consideration for the claimed "Richest country on Earth". It appears that the "richest" has been applied to the rich. A country run and controlled by the rich. Why aren't the social benefits received by those in the government cut? When they can decide on when to get a raise why denying others the same benefit, there is inequity. A social welfare President is what this country needs. The opposition will drag out every label they can think of to deny these benefits to the general public. Take a look at Denmark if you want to see how social benefits are enjoyed by all and how it has strengthened the country and given the citizens the label of "Happiest people in the world". |

| Bernie Sanders is many things, but a communist isn't one of them. He's a socialist, big difference (See the nations of Scandinavia for the kind of socialism Sanders believes in). |

We would have to pay huge taxes, There's a lot I don't agree with when it comes to the Republican candidates one is bringing in religion, no one I don't care who you are should put their religious beliefs into the picutre , right now the religious right is going after the Supreme Court about gay marriage , I think marriage should be for everyone period, why do people look at things like it's a personal threat ? Are we going back to the Witch Hunt Days of Salem MAss 1692 ? No I'm not a Republican nor a Democrat I'm neutral I pick and choose..
Cheers...Joe.. |

| We have Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP to thank, Joe. The English electorate didn't so much vote for the Tories as against the Scots Nats. |

| Last year, a referendum was held in Scotland. Nicola was deputy to the first minister for Scotland, Alex Salmond. They both belonged to the Scottish National Party (SNP). When the Scots voted to stay part of the UK, Alex Salmond resigned and Nicola was appointed leader of the SNP.
Before yesterday's general election, there were forty-nine Scottish Labour MPs. Every single Labour MP, except one, lost their seats in the election. SNP took all those seats, plus seats from Lib-dems, giving the party a total of fifty-six MPs. This was a great loss to the Labour party and contributed to the Tory victory. |

| Time to update with a few more prospective candidates.
Democratic:
Lincoln Chafee: Former senator/governor of Rhode Island. Has been a Democrat, a Republican and an independent with various positions that that have shifted. Well regarded in Rhode Island, terrible campaigner. Won't last past Iowa.
Martin O'Malley: Well regarded former governor. A rising star politically and probably in any other cycle might be someone to watch.
Republican:
George Pataki: A moderate which makes him a no go in the primaries. Bland personality but a good campaigner. Not going anywhere. |

| Update:
Chris Christie: Seems to be trying to use Jedi mind tricks on everyone to make them forget his scandals. I can't believe he believes still he has a chance, but apparently he thinks so.
Jeb Bush: He has managed to shoot himself in the foot several times recently and it's been painful to watch. He's considering a run and I still believe if he runs, he'll get the nomination, but he is sure making it hard on himself.
John Bolton: Both his supporters are sad he won't run.
Bernie Sanders: Continues to poll decently, which is a bit of surprise, but reality looms ahead. |
