Peas, Pills and Parkinson's Empty
PostSubject: Peas, Pills and Parkinson's   Peas, Pills and Parkinson's EmptySun Apr 28, 2013 5:15 am

I finished Alice's Peas, Pills and Parkinson's Peas, Pills and Parkinson's last night. What a terrific book. It is an autobiography of a very special woman who has lived with adversity from an early age through adulthood not the least of which included a battle with Parkinson's Disease. It is a tough, strong willed girl's journey that as much as anything shows the indomitability of the human spirit and proves the old phrase that "what does not kill you makes you stronger." In Alice Crooker, adversity has shaped an Olympian spirit that cannot be broken. Her book is an inspiration to anyone who feels that life is too hard, that their problems are insurmountable and that it is easier to surrender than to fight on. Strength tempered by faith and humor will get even a little girl through nearly anything. And tragedy is just a synonym for opportunity.

I laughed out loud and teared up many times, and not just because I'm a weepy kind of guy. It is a wonderful book by a beautiful little girl (despite what she was wrongly and cruelly told by too many people for much of her life and perhaps has grown to believe) who still resides in a beautiful woman who is an inspiration to all those who suffer in silence and conquer adversity through a sheer act of will, with the help of God and a wonderful husband. God bless you, Alice. I will always cherish your book.

Victor,
God is very good!
The praise belongs to Him first, then my family and friends next and me NOT AT ALL.
Thank you for an overwhelmingly wonderful review.

Alice,

God gets the credit for getting you through the tough times and guiding your neurosurgeon's hands. Your family, wonderful hubby and your close friends can get their fair share of credit for their love and support. But YOU wrote the book. YOU had the courage to share what are some very painful and difficult memories. YOU had the strength to endure personal tragedy--and and inept medical system with overworked, burned out doctors. YOU made it possible to turn adversity into success. YOU are SPECIAL (and beautiful and good). We your colleagues and friends know that, as doubtless do your readers and you need to know that too.
