I wanted to post it here, but I can't get the pictures to post. It's at my web site www.dkchristi.com and click on Presentations by D. K. Christi. I recently posted it in search of presentation opportunities. Take a look and see if you would invite me to present....thanks :-)

Dear Diane,

Your offer of presentation is lovely. I think that people would want you to speak and present. You have a lot, and I mean a lot, to offer. How beautiful is your spirit! I wish I could grab people by the eyes and make them see what you offer. You offer your own self. Not many people do that, they hide behind some idea they think the public wants. You do not do that, you have a unique prize to offer, your own self and all that you are, including all your education, your love of the swamps, the orchid, your books and your heart. Good luck with this.

I would gladly come with my little ball peen and strike a few notes! Snort.

Love,

Betty

I don't suggest an addition or change to what you have done. Very good in my view.

Ok. If you are truly looking for feedback on a website that ostensibly promotes you as a paid presenter, here is mine.

That website does NOT promote you as a paid presenter, IMO. It is a general promotional website for your books, mostly the Ghost Orchid one. The sidebar with your presentation info is at the bottom of the page, only reached with much scrolling, and buried in irrelevancies like "newest members." Even the link in the header is just one of many.

I would completely revamp that page to make it obvious you are available as a paid presenter, or even better, make a separate, dedicated page for that. I would put more rounded resume experience on that page as justification for why you should be hired for the various categories you listed instead of such an overwhelming amount of promotional info about one book. The bio is completely inadequate. I would not hire someone to speak on winning workplaces, finding your best self, etc., based on a bio telling me little more than your hobbies and favorite local haunts.

I've got more, but I think you get the point.

My nice thank you post went "poof." I'm taking all the suggestions to heart and and LC feel free to share all your thoughts on the matter. I need a different "eye." Thanks for research, Shelagh and thanks to those who took the time to look at my new twist...I'm open to any and all thoughts and suggestions. They say if you keep getting the same and doing the same it's time to take another perspective....

DK, I think the best place to start is by looking at other speakers' webpages. Like this guy's:

http://www.larryjacobson.com/

His book is featured, sure, but it's as a support to why you'd want to hire him. Pattern your page and bio after his. You've got stuff to put. You sailed with your family for years, lived by yourself on a boat for years (very unusual), worked as a school administrator, an intern in Congress, etc., etc. ...put that in your bio, like this guy did.

He's got a nice picture of himself, a video -he's selling himself. Your website is selling your books. Keep your promotional books site, sure, but make a new one that sells you.
