| I wondered if any of you had connections with the work at home job thing. I can type fairly well, most of my brain is intact, and I am still 'trainable.' I would like to make some extra money here in my home. I have heard of medical billing, customer service reps, but there are so many scams on the net that I do not know where to look. Does anyone have ideas about this?
My daughter had a job once that she took complaint calls for an internet provider and set up appointments for service people to visit the caller's home. I could do that with a smile. I would like that kind of job. She made about 400 a week doing that.
Any advice or leads would be welcome.
Love,
Betty |

| Me too. It's risky without a good referral. |

| I know it is, Diane. Shelly worked for Verizon. I imagine the thing to do is contact places like ATT, Verizon, Direct TV, Wildblue, and other providers. I will check into it on Monday. If I find anything, I will let you know.

| My daughter informed me this evening that I was too old to work.
Snort!
I do not feel too old to work. In fact, I do more physical work than most people 20 years younger than I. I know what she meant. She meant that I should not have to work at my age. Well, I never felt that work was a bad thing. Work is what I do best. I cannot just sit and watch television, I must do something that produces something. It does not matter what it is, but I need stuff to do. I create stuff to do. I create stuff that needs my attention. I MUST have a purpose for the day.
The idea of working from my computer at home sounds so nice to me. I do need the money. But, it is not up to me to keep the house and payments going on. I just want to do it. I want to have savings.
I could type manuscripts. Ahhhhhhh.
DK, One day, I hope, it will all fall into your lap from the effort you have put forth, your lovely, intelligent mind, your experience in so many areas. I hope most of all that you find the person who loves you for you.....just the way you are and not some illigetimate, conglomerate of whom someone thinks you should be. You are perfect, just as you are.
Love,
Betty |

| Betty,
Have you thought of doing something to go along with your hydroponics - like writing a cookbook, maybe. The way you put the farm fresh foods together in the ...Cook Today thread always sound marvelous. I've seen many online sites that combine such recipes, cooking, canning tips with farming sites - many of them here in the small towns around SA. You could set up a website to cover all of it - free recipes and tips, ads for the farm products, and cookbooks, etc - all in one place.
If you want, I could send you some links.

| If the U.S. can be run by justices over 60 and Senators over 60 and many pushing 80, I think, Betty, that you and I have much to contribute.
Hillary is being considered a viable candidate for president in 2016 - and I think she'll be 65 or so by then - not sure exactly.
If I can write eight articles a month from Pertussis vaccine to Great Apes Sanctuary, my mind must still be sharp.
If you can garden as you do, both your mind and body must be sharp, let alone all the Kindle short stories you have published.
We have what it takes; it's just that we need the contacts without prejudice. |

What might be more lucrative is uploading a self-written course at canvas.net or udemy.com These are sites where people write their own courses on any subject and then sell them. MOOCs (massive open online courses) are becoming popular. The flagship ones -Udacity and Coursera- are only open to Ivy League instructors, but the sites I just listed are accessible and legit. There's also craftsy.com, which has a section for food craft. You could do some YouTube vids to help promote your courses. The benefit, of course, is that once you write it, you're done, and the money is like royalties; you don't have to work for it anymore. Except for updating as needed. This is something I've been meaning to do myself, and after I knock out these two books I've contracted this year, I will. Self-help is where it's at. People want to learn things and will pay others to teach them. Even better if they can do it at their own pace and time. |
