Today I got an e mail from Shelagh about a free story on Kindle,

when I tried to download it they asked me for my charge card, I refused,

why would they want a charge card if the story is free ?

You need an amazon account even to download free books. If you have the account, they already have your charge card number.

You definitely need a registered device, even if it's only Kindle for PC or one of the other free apps.
