Can you imagine a son changing a trust his mother made and now
she's 98 he wants to evict her and sell her home read on....He
should be put in jail !

I am not going to read it - but blood does not always guarantee love or loyalty.

Joe, I'm sure most of the things you post are interesting, but I never click on a link and go somewhere else to read something.

If I have to go to another page, I just pass on reading stuff.

Why not copy and paste the article, or at least the highlights of it, and that way those of us who don't have much time can scan through it and maybe reply.

Just a suggestion.

I read the article. I have as many questions as answers. Many assumptions are being made here.

How sound is "Mom"'s mind? Is she able to care for herself? Is there enough money in the estate to provide her with the care she will need? That is especially a vital consideration if she is to remain in her home, which is often the most expensive option.

Children of aging parents are often left with hard decisions.

More of the facts for the individual case are needed before we can even begin to choose the path we might take under the circumstances.

There just aren't any easy, pat answers anymore, folks, if there ever were - or should have been.

We need to investigate what we read these days, before we draw a conclusion.

I agree, Ann

When and if I am ever 98, put me where people can keep me clean and minister to my needs. I would not blame my family at all. At 98, I damned sure do not want my children to have to be concerned with my daily maintenence. Make me comfortable and let me do what I am able. I have no problem with a facilty that can do that for me.

I agree with Ann & Betty.
There are real situations where kids want to cash in on inheritance. I have some real stories about that, however I think they are the exception, not the rule.

My neighbor celebrated her 100th birthday on thursday and she was out sweeping the sidewalk. Some are capable at an advanced age while others are either bed-ridden or incapable of caring for themselves.
Personally, I don't want to continue living when I can't recognize my family or cannot take care of myself - just my thoughts at the moment.

I know too many cases where people are elderly and can't take care of themselves, but this doesn't give the children the right to take what isn't theres, he should be flogged !!
