| Don't ask me. I bought a Kindle book for the first time from Amazon. I don't have a Kindle, so I chose, or thought I chose, the "cloud" option. Supposedly an app was installed on my computer, but I can't find it or the app. |

| Do you mean a book you wrote available for sale, or a book you bought on your own reader?
I have nook and kindle readers on both my computers and my iphone. From the time I purchase books for them, it takes a matter of seconds.
All of these readers are free, BTW.
Getting a book uploaded and the formatting accepted takes a bit longer.
There is still bit of a glitch in my latest version of Incident...into the Kindle store. The Look Inside feature still has the old version. When I check out the preview section from my dashboard, it looks OK, so I'm assuming the book itself is OK too. I'm trying right now to figure out the best way to contact them.
Formatting can do funy things.
One of Joe's recent threads reminded me of a book I wanted to reread, but since I had borrowed the print book from a friend to read the first time, I bought a Kindle version for myself. I came across quite a few errors that had not been in the print book.

| LC, When you are signed in to Amazon, you should have a "Manage you Kindle" tab near the top right side & when you click on the tab, it opens a page showing your purchases, their status, and when and where they were downloaded.

| Alice meant how long before her book shows up on B&N and in the Apple bookstore. As for formatting the thing -- it took ages! I uploaded the fille half a dozen times before the Lulu wizard said that the book was in a form that might be acceptable for the ibookstore (ipad).
Alice, if you go to the book on Lulu, download the free "Adobe Digital Editions" reader onto your desktop, you can buy a copy of the ebook ($2.99). You will see that a list of chapter headings appears on the left that you can click on and whizz around the book chapter by chapter, backwards as well as forwards. That was part of the formatting problem. It seems to be working, so there's a good chance the book will be accepted by Apple for the ipad.
By the way, download the reader first, then buy the book:

LC I have the Kindle app on my PC I got it prior to downloading my first Kindle ebook. You need to look in your downloads folder in My Documents where all your downloaded content first ends up (unless you've set it up to go elsewhere of course) and look for 'KindleForPC-Installer.exe' click on that to start the install. When installed it places a Kindle icon on the desktop. All books are placed in a folder in 'My Documents' called 'My Kindle Content'. There are two files per title placed in this folder one will have a blue book icon. Access to this content can be via the Kindle app Icon on the desktop or from clicking on the blue book icon for the title in the My Kindle Content folder. Amazon would not let me download books until I had downloaded the app so you should have it installed to get the books. |
