HURRICANE IRENE ! WHAT A HORROR !

From what I've been seeing on the news and the computer they say Hurricane
Irene is going to be a horror ! This is a first New York City will shut down all
trains and transportation Trains, Buses, Tunnels, Bridges, in all my life living
there they never closed anything down.....If it hits hard lower downtown will
be either gone or under eight feet of water, we shall see... Keep safe..

I have to get in touch with my sister-in-law, she
lives in NYC area...I think it's suppose to hit NYC

Dave said that even in the grocery stores, it was clear that most people in the area (He lives about 15 miles east of Newark) had no idea what to stock up on. They are used to preparing for winter storms, but not hurricanes. Many of them were buying raw meat, which would be the thing to do in the wintertime, because it could be kept outside in the snow. but for hurricanes, you need to buy canned meats and vegetables that you can eat cold and don't need refrigeration or cooking, and lots of bottled water.

Hopefully, it will downgrade once it hits land. The problem for his family there, though, is that Lyn's dad's vacation home is about half-way between Nags Head and Kitty Hawk, which puts it right in the eye of the storm. No one is there right now, but they don't know what might happen to the house.

Just talked to Dave. Their power is already back on. Jaycie is very happy that she can watch TV again. She apparently handled her first serious weather disaster very well. He had called this morning about nine, but we lost contact, and I wasn't able to call him for a while, but things are easing up now, and there wasn't too much damage. their roof started a small leak about half-way through, but it isn't bad, and won't take much to repair.

Does anyone else have family or friends in the area? What are you guys hearing?
