BILLIONS OF DOOLARS TO BE CUT FROM MEDICARE AND MEDICAID !

It has been announced their negotiating to cut billions of dollars from
medicare and medicaid ! What will seniors do ? What about poor people
who need medical insurance who are ill ? Just to satisfy the National
debt , where are we headed ! Read on , what's your opinion ?...

Negotiations are not necessarily a done deal.

And a lot depends on where any cuts might be made. This came up earlier, during the general health care debate. There are many misuses of government funds in most programs that have been allowed to exist for years now. Drs. and hospitals pad their bills, believing that the insurors, whether private or public, are willing to look the other way and let it slide.

Tightening the excesses would be a good way to reduce the overall costs.

Much still needs to be done for our health care system to work at its best.

It seems to me these Tea Party/Republicans are willing to let the country go bankrupt in an attempt to allow the banks and corporations hold on to their excess wealth.

These threats are an attempt to keep the tax breaks for the wealthy in place.

Here's another solution to the debt, get rid of our
tax system which is a horror story in itself and put
one flat tax at 20% that way no one including the
wealthy would get away with anything, the old system
with loop holes and everything that went with it would
be gone, the Govt. would rake in billions, except for food.

Padding hospital bills ia a large factor in high costs. Stopping theft and abuse will reduce costs. Do you know what the hospital charges for a single Aspirin?

Hospitals are big business and the owners want huge profits. Do they really care about the health of the patient or what the patient means to them in profits?

I went to my specialist who ordered a series of blood tests, the usual panel and some additional tests. I also had an appointment with my primary doctor for an annual. I said to the primary doctor nurse, "since Dr. X just took my blood for the typical panel and additional tests, you won't need to take any blood tests." Her response: Yes, we will. Dr. X will not release the results to us because he is not in our group of doctors. We will need to do our own tests." I said, "you mean the exact same tests as Dr. X?" Her response, "Yes." So I suggested Medicare would not pay for two sets of the same test. She said they would because it was from two different medical groups. Then I said, "I won't need to come in to see the results because Dr.X will have discussed that and more." Her response: "Yes, you will need to go over the results with Dr. Y as she might see something different."

All I could see was Dr. X bills medicare for two appointments and one set of blood tests. Dr. Y bills medicare for two appointments and another set of blood tests. I have co-pay insurance so I will still be paying $10 for the primary doctor twice and $30 for the specialist twice and $10 - $70 (depending) for the blood tests twice. Multiply that times all the people on medicare - and I'm not even a person who spends much for medical. As far as I'm concerned, I only needed to see the primary for the annual and one set of blood tests and that blood test info could have been shared with the specialist by the primary care nurse.

Another time I went for my annual but had some kind of a virus. She couldn't do both. She treated me for the virus and I had to make another appointment for the annual. The virus was more likely just allergies....

That's how they make money ! I would have told the
primary Dr., You have to find out the results, Dr.'s
are suppose to talk to each other, I would refuse to
take the same blood test over again...I wonder what
he or she would have said ?

When doctors don't trust the results/conclusions of other doctors, why should the patient trust the doctors?

The system needs overhaul - too much duplication. Every visit creates a new set of billing procedures to justify charges by the healthcare provider.

Healthcare? The care part is lacking. The health part is for the financial health of the institution.

Health is just one letter away from wealth!

It is always the case when people hear the word insurance, the prices go up.
Car insurance is treated the same way by auto repair companies.
What it cost's you to repair the paint job on your car is cheaper than the pro's
who over estimate and some often use cheaper materials to increase their profit as well.

Do you know of a poor insurance company? When you see their headquarter buildings, you get the message.

There's no such thing as life insurance. In the early days it was called Death insurance, but they changed the name because it didn't sell.

It may be why they call it health insurance instead of Sickness insurance.
The insurance is sick. And as David pointed out the health part is the wealth factor.

A program that provides insurance for the sick requires government control to insure that people receive the care they need.

It was never intended that the government administer the program, but rather control what the providers do. That's just another thing the opponents use to try and defeat the universal health care program. Feeding the public with misleading information is nothing new.

Mother paid him .10 cents per child for life insurance.

Yes, my parents did the same thing for we kids. The insurance guy came by and collected the money. Fortunately, there was never a need to collect the insurance.
There was a hit movie, "Paper Moon" played by Ryan O'Neil about that kind of insurance where the insurance company denied all claims. Very good movie.
