The Best Times

When was the best time of your life?

For me, it was when the kids were little and we'd go to the ocean for vacation. We went often to Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast.

We went to the book store and bought books to read. We ate Pizza , flew kites, swam and walked the beach. Dave and I enjoyed our kids.

Those were the days.

Dear Alice,
I would have to say it is today. I have had some bad times, but today I look and see that I am happy with this day. We have troubles, things that only prayer can help, but looking out of my eyes I see that I am where I am and that is nice to me. I do not wish I was somewhere else, with someone else, had more stuff, .....no, I am happy just being here today where I am and doing what I do and knowing the people I know and loving the people I love. It is enough.

These are good times, too. In fact, Most times have something good to remember, for me, when it's the good I try to focus on.

One of the cool times were Sunday evenings during the 1978-79 TV season. The kids' dad and I had just divorced and I was going back to college, but on Sunday evenings we would all get down on the floor in front of the set to watch the original Battlestar Galactica series. We would talk about time in microns, and say things like frack and felgercarb while we ate nachos and hot dogs and drank Pepsis. The girls and I would drool over Richard Hatch and Dirk Benedict and David would groan about it and call us stupid Cylons. No children, no adults, just fans having an hour or so of escapist fun.

I don't want more stuff. Just wish I could get about as I used to.

However, I told my daughter-in-law, if someone in the family had to be disabled, I was glad it was me and not one of them.
