DOES ANYONE KNOW ?

I downloaded from Bookmark self publishing their book cover
template and their layout template, I can't open them ! Does
anyone including Shelagh know how you open these and use
them on your computer ? A small box opens when you click on
and when you download it doesn't open into your computer
like other programs...Thank you.

How do you get the book cover in photo shop,
then take your pre-made book cover to cover
the front of the book ? How do you put the type
on the book cover ? Thanks.

Joe, Photoshop is a complex program. I suggest you find some online tutorials for the basics on how to use it. The questions you ask suggest that you have no experience with it. It's not something I can address by answering questions. You need a structured walk-through of the program's use.

Adult Ed offers classes here - so it must have an element of complication. I've stuck with Paint and a simple jpeg picture for an ebook cover. I had a template, though for a full cover that didn't need a special program. It was a long time ago, and I can't find it.

Photoshop is a VERY complicated program. There is nothing intuitive about it; you can't guess your way through it. I've taken two month-long classes in it and they were very helpful. We used this book:

and it's fabulous! I highly recommend you get a copy and work through the tutorials, they're easy and well-explained. Worth the time learning if your interest is in photography and art. I use it a lot myself for those purposes.

There are lots of online tutorials, but their quality is irregular. I used them to fill in holes from the book; that is, I'd google things I didn't understand in the book and usually found an answer. But the tutorials worked for me only because the book gave me a framework to plug them into.
