Save Your Emails Empty
PostSubject: Save Your Emails   Save Your Emails EmptyMon Dec 20, 2010 7:24 pm

The ones between you and your publisher and anyone else involved in your book.

I've been going through the production process for the past four months with no end in sight, and it has just been an ordeal. Things that were supposed to be done a certain way, that I was told would be done a certain way, were not done that way, and I get arguments when I want them corrected. So many incidents of this, and I'm getting worn down. I saved some emails (I started saving them when this started happening), but I didn't save them all, and it's causing me problems.

Save them and print them. My yahoo account that I use for most of my writing correspondence was hacked...one year of emails were pulled. Yahoo could not recover them. I hope the hacker has enjoyed them. The loss is costly to me.

I use my work email, so I'm not concerned about that. What is making this so difficult is that there are so many freelancers and vendors on this project. So many layers that a communication has to go through, and stuff is getting garbled. And the production manager for my book (a freelancer) has never done a book like this before, yet she makes decisions for it that she has no business making, and it causes problems when I see those decisions in pages and demand they be re-done (the publisher gets charged for each re-do).

My email account was tapped and used to send viagra promotional emails. It was an embarrassment as well as an invasion of my privacy. The only way for me to dislodge this invasion was to use a new email address. In the meanwhile, I got a new PC and didn't copy my old emails onto the new one. That solved the problem. I kept my old PC, and if needed, I can always go back to the old PC and access old emails. Perhaps another method would be to save all emails on a back-up device, and then delete all emails from the active on-line file, and make liberal use of the SPAM feature.
I don't think there is a sure way, but finding something that works is helpful. Ideas welcomed.
