I am giving my excess to the poor. They need it and it will do someone some good, I hope.

I have been a hoarder of coats. No more.
This is a good time to open your closets and see what you can do without.
If you haven't already done it--try it, I love it.

I had a wonderful, spiritual friend with whom I always felt like such a materialistic person. He believed in minimalism, recycling, and no harm to anything with a life force. He had just enough plates to eat, pots to cook, space to live sparingly, clothes to get by and transporation that was reliable not sexy. He didn't need television though he had a few channels on an old set to appease his son. He baked his own bread and ate at home from raw foods lightly cooked, no meat or animal products ever. He didn't need a physician or insurance. He had the minimums; after all his trailer or car would be no great loss that the cost of insurance besides minimums would not be appropriate. If he discovered he had anything extra or found something extra he gave it away.

I couldn't live that way; but I admired his philosophy. He and the woman he found who shared his philosophy moved to a piece of ground somewhere in New Mexico where they live from the land and are building a B&B for people who think like them. They depend on no one but themselves for the sustenance.

DK..

He sounds like a great guy. I have business suits and
other clothes I have to give away, there's a great
organization here called " Open Hands," they loan out
medical equipment to seniors and others who need it
for as long as they need it, they also have a store
where they sell everything to make money to help
their charity: http://www.openhands.org
They even have a senior center and another one for
those who have alzheimers....

Cheers..Joe

I hope not--there are people on the streets who could use a warm coat.

Our church has a clothing bank where the needy come to get clothes for free.
That is where my coats will go. My extra Christmas tree went to the Goodwill.

I might as well try to help someone. Assuming all people are bad is
not my view.

What if we end up on the streets?

Not everyone there planned to be there.

We own our home, but if we end up having to pay our own medical bills, we could lose it.
