| Today (yes on a sunday) I had a hospital appointment for a post op assesment with my consultant surgeon. He gave me a sheet of photos of my right knee joint taken during the operation. He explained what they did what they cut away and what I was to expect my knee to feel now all that has been done. 1. I will always have a painful knee joint. 2. My other knee will have to be done soon. 3.I should be careful and consider getting another job that will be easier on my knees. My employer cannot give light duties at work and does not want me to return until I am 100% fit for my job which I will never be. So what do I do?? Now I am left pondering how I shall survive. I do not get sick pay from my job I only get the small statutary sick allowance from social services which does not even cover my rent. My dear wife is not fit for work with all her health problems so I cannot send her out to work. I will not let it defeat me I will survive I shall start hunting for another job. There is and always will be hope. |

| Sometimes what seems like bad news can turn out to be good. Keep focused on what you want in that new job, and chances are it will find you.

| Sorry to hear about your knees. What is your present job that you wore them out so badly? I was under the impression you traveled a lot for work, was it that that did it? |

| David, I am so sorry to hear of your adversities. "The night is darkest just before dawn." and "When one door closes a better one opens." I pray something very good will come your way. You are so witty and funny. |

| Lots of good advice David. I think you may discover that "with every adversity there is a benefit". You may not see it now, but it will be there. |

| Thank you all so much I feel a lot better for reading your responses.
LC currently I work as an alarm engineer. It is a job that entails a lot of driving, ladder work, climbing stairs, some heavy lifting and electrical know how. My knees just can't take it anymore. When I work in London (parking in London is very hard to find) I may have to park up to a mile or so from the site and when you have to carry ladders and tools with you it is quite a task. Then when you get to your job it is up and down ladders and stairs all day. I guess all that grovelling and begging I've done in the past has caught up with me. |

| People with technical skills like that are always in demand here, in supervisory positions, too (less physically demanding). Maybe you should immigrate here? It's not hard, just fly to Mexico and walk over. |
