Dear Joe,
I am always amazed at the beautiful buildings that were made with mud and not a lot of machinery. New Mexico is full of these old ruins. Wouldn't it be a nice thing if people tried to reconstuct one of these old ruins in a miniature using the old ways.

It must have been a nice day for you to visit that place.

I'm going there tomorrow, ready to do photography.
Then on Oct. 3rd their having another festival " Harvest
Festival," I plan on going to that one too. Matter of fact
here in town their's a store that carries miniature mud
houses with stuff outside of it. I'll display some photos
on Sunday...

It's a 16th Century Spanish Colonial Village, 200 acres, I
did my walk yesterday 3 1/2 hrs it was hot. It's only 20 mins.
from where I live , I shot 100 photos, I put some on my art
site, you'll get a kick out of the lady dressed as a fairy....

I only agree half way, first off downtown has a lot of
stores that are tourist stuff, as for the Native Americans
who sell their jewelry, pottery, etc. under the Governor's
palace, these are great artists and their art doesn't come
cheap. There is a certain group from Jordan who have
owned stores and one place was caught selling fake native
American jewelry, matter of fact it was from a famous Native
American artist, he will be find and go to jail, about a month
ago the Federal Govt., changed the laws and made the fines
much stiffer $500,000- plus jail time. There are stores that do
sell the usual tourist stuff, I don't shop in these stores, I only
buy from Native Americans and local artist. The tourist trade
in this town is dead , the great depression has hit here and as
far as tourist trap I've been to other places in this country as
well as Canada it's the same all over. But Santa Fe is a beautiful
peaceful city, sunsets and sunrises that would take your breath
away, it's history goes back 400 years and Santa Fe is one of the
oldest cities in the United States. So do come and visit...
