That's hilarious. And sad. What low self-esteem the Chinese must have.

Your daughter's experience will be interesting. My experience with Chinese friends in San Francisco and Hawaii was that their esteem was very high and their business acumen exceptional. I found the same with Japanese and Koreans when I lived in their countries. It is also true that "saving face" is extremely important for them.

When American businessmen want to impress foreigners they provide them with statuesque models and escorts. I guess whatever it takes to make that business transaction. Pharmaceutical salesmen (hunks for the most part) call on female doctors and statuesque female models call on male doctors. Marketing....

When Miami Beach was renovated to South Beach, they initially hired models to sit at the outdoor cafe tables and act as servers, hostesses and bouncers to build the reputation that South Beach was where the beautiful people hung out. It worked. So many model shoots were held there that soon the pretty people, male and female starting living in the neighborhood for real.

Hiring pretty people, of any color, isn't that far out as a business enhancement.

This goes beyond hiring good-looking people to do a bona fide job, though. They're posing as employees, and even posing as the CEO (one was arrested when the company turned out to be shady).

They're doing this because Chinese think that white people are more trustworthy. lol!
