It's May Day - a holiday here in Germany. Last night the village had a May Pole raising event. Lots of Beer and Bratwurst to help the pole settle into position while the band played. Of course with all the Prosit's, feeling merry was a given. Very Happy

Sorry Ahad I will be voting for the Scottish Nats. I do't think that we will ever get a fair deal north of the border till we win our freedom. As for the English parties, the Librals are the best out of the lot. For the last 30 years both Labour and the Tories have stolen policies off of the Lib's and taken the credit for there success. At the same time the ideas they have had themselves have caused the boom and bust that Labour was supposed to end. Why would any nation wish to continue in that way, when there is another party that hasn't been in power since the twenties. Give them a chance to mess it up like the others and who knows maybe they may lead us to a more equal nation. An end to the south east of England hording the money for London and help all the areas of the UK.

LOL! Fair deal? The Scots receive more funding -- per capita -- than any other residents of the UK! Give them their independence, I say; throw out all the Scottish MPs and give the English their independence. Vote labour! 545232

Yes but we do own 80% of the gas and 60% of the oil. We are one of the top 10 producers of oil in the world, we have more than Kuwait has. And when the figures are made up by the government of funding to Scotland the oil and gas is left off of those figures.
In the seventies before the oil came ashore there were blackouts and the working week was cut by the government but as soon as the oil started flowing thing quickly improved, why?
Time we took the oil and gas, declared our freedom and see how well we do on our own.

Rubbish! You own nothing. What would your defence budget be to defend these natural resources? You are protected by the might of the UK. You can't have your cake and eat it -- or gas and burn it!

BP is this little company that apparently had nothing in place to keep millions of gallons of oil mixing into the ocean in case of explosion, and then LIED about the magnitude of it for days. Like no one would notice all this black stuff coating the shoreline.

What is England going to commit the action of the past on Scotland with the World watching. It didn't work for Sadam or Hitler for that matter.

LOL! Not protect it from the English. From terrorists and activists. Why should an English government allow military protection of an independent Scotland?

We could have our own defense force as does other small nations. We would have our allies and we would hope that the English would be among them, not like in the past when we were less trustful of English intent.

And we aren't doing to well with England. In the three hundred years of Union we have been slaughtered and cleared from our lands. It has meant that we have spread throughout the world but it has left us a poor nation.
