Hi, all.

I've been crazy-busy getting ready for the rollout of "Evenings on Dark Island", my coauthored vampire parody.

It's been fun. Work. But fun.

I finished the book trailer a couple of days ago, then a good friend who has her own video business helped me do the spit shine and polish. It turned out pretty good.

I will launch the trailer onto YouTube in a couple of weeks, as soon as the book is listed on the online vendors.

Then...onto the next project and the next and the next.

Let me make a suggestion about the video. I know you're dying to show it, but consider this: one of the values of a video as a promotional item is that it's a "permission to spam".
You sell your book, you get to run around and announce it.
It's published, another virtual tour of websites and emails.
The video provides another such opportunity. When I say "permisssion to announce" I mean it all the way from strictly literal--some websites will crack down on repeated mentions of a book, but not object to something new happening, like a video--to "even your friends want to see something new if you honk them about your book".

I'd advise waiting a little after your publication blast before trumpeting the video.

In the meantime, put it on Blazing Trailers and "You Gotta Read This".

And enter it in the Covey Awards...it'll take awhile to hit the head of the line....and provide an excuse for another legitimate fanfarefest as you request votes for it.

Another tip. Everybody makes a vid, slaps it on YouTube (or maybe a half-dozen places) and leaves it. I've mentioned a couple of ways it can work for you, another is hustling it around YouTube. You can search for books or vids like yours and respond to them with a video. Which means anybody seeing that trailer will see yours beside it. It can form a network or eyeballs that gets you more views.

We're going to hold on releasing it until we are sure the book has landed on the vendors--both the print and e-book versions.

I have had such a great time making the trailer...now, I have to come up with ideas for the next one.
