Wow, the evidence that the Pope knew about all these molesters and deliberately did nothing is getting stronger each day. I really like the bit about how he didn't want to do anything to this priest because he was "so young" (38).

It's deeper than that.
Check THIS out

Priest routinely raping nuns and parishoners in Africa and Latin America. And the nuns told to shut up if they report it.

It's a scummy organization. Total power corrupts totally.

Interesting how the scandal started in the US, then in Ireland and Germany (the Irish situation seems to be the worst), now it's spreading to Africa and elsewhere. I wonder what the repercussions will finally be. Probably nothing.

That is interesting. It's kind of like now that white people are victims, it's okay to start mentioning third women get raped.

That article I posted is pretty damn disgusting. Priests forcing nuns into sex, then making them have abortions...forcing them into mortal sins, no less.

Non-white people.

What I meant was that now that the scandal has hit, and the media/legal furor over American and European boys has broken the trail, it's probably "safe" to start talking about Latino and Afro women being preyed on by these assholes.

What really infuriates me about his shit isn't just the actions, nor the cover-ups, but the exquisite cruelty and sociopathy in forcing people under one's spiritual tutelage to become so emotionally conflicted between the deepest of human drives, and to use that "man of God" authority to force them to do things that the Church itself condemns and which they would see as being very serious sins.

4/10/2010

I said this many years ago, maybe 30 I don't
remember , I always said Priests should be allowed
to marry wether their straight or gay...That goes for
Nuns too. The Catholic Church has a 1000 year
history of this, sometimes I think it's control by using
reliigion and this thing about not using birth control,
give me a break ! Who's going to feed these poor
people, not the church !

I remember when I was 18 I went to confession and I
told the priest my stupid sins, he told me to do 25
Hail Marys and 25 Our Fathers. While at the alter I
thought to myself, wait a minute, he's a human being
and I'm a human being, why am I telling him these
stupidies ! I didn't commit murder, I didn't rape anyone
and I certainyl didn't hurt any animal. I got up and
walked out, never went back. If I go to church it's for
me to sit their and talk to God , matter of fact you can
talk to God any place and he'll listen...I think the
church is oosing their grip on the masses..

Cheers...Joe

So an IRA goes to an Irish priest.
"Father I have sinned"
"What are your sins, my son?"
"I blew up two English trains."
"Very serious sin, my son. For pennace ye have to do the stations."

Joe, I agree with you re the confession bit. Bullbleep.

"An Irishman goes into the confessional box after years of being away from the Church.

Once inside he sees a fully equipped bar with Guinness on tap. On the
other wall is a dazzling array of the finest cigars and chocolates.

Then the priest comes in. "Father, forgive me; it's been a very long time since I've been to confession, but I must first admit that the confessional box is much more inviting than it used to be."

The priest replies: "Get out. You're on my side."

Actually, I've always seen this as a gaping blind spot in Christianity in generall, and perfected into a machine by Catholocism: that you can get off the hook without making amends.

You don't have to give a damn about the people who got hurt, don't even have to be contrite. Just tell jesus about it, do some mumbo-jumbo and you walk free.

Compare and contrast with AA and NA, where making lists of those you've harmed and attempting with all your heart and means to make amends to them is part of the recovery.

It's like a "get out of hell free card" with no compassion for the iinjured parties.

Of course it leads to a professional abuser class.

I've read that once we die and review our life, we'll feel all the hurts (and happiness) we've caused others. Some men of the cloth will have a lot of "feeling" to do someday.
