Last summer, we visited three stately homes: Lyme Hall (Cheshire), Harewood House (Yorkshire, home of the Queen's cousin) and Tatton Hall (Cheshire). This photo is Lyme Hall (owned by the National Trust). The small lake in the foreground was used for the famous scene in the BBC's adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, where Mr. Darcy, played by Colin Firth, dripping wet, walked out of the water.

That's beautiful Joe! Yes, I took the photo. It was a dull, overcast day. The design of the Hall is Italianate; the blue colours in the watercolour replacing the UK greyness make the scene look very sunny and Italian! This is a photo of the courtyard with the steps in the background, where Colin Firth walked down the steps at the end of the video clip.

Nice Shelagh. I love old architecture. It has character, and if it could talk, it would have much to say.
