| PA sent out a great deal. For just under $156.00 they will send me 12 books and Oprah five books.
I thought I should at least give it a try.
We will see what happens. |

| Dear Alice, In the beginning, I sent a book to Oprah, my family all sent Wooffer books to Oprah, even certified mail. Not one thank you, not one response. Perhaps your book will get a better reception. I think it is just another way PA gets money from the authors. Who knows if they ever send them or not. Perhaps an investigation is in order to find out just how many PA books are recieved by the Oprah organization. I doubt that any really are other than the one's the hopeful author sends. Even to get to Oprah, you need a good agent. Love, Betty |

Alice..
People like Oprah aren't interested, I've tried, a waste of time , just like I got the e mail we'll send your book to Walmart ....Walmart doesn't even have a large book dept. besides they way they wheel and deal , no publisher would give them 50 - 60% off....So we have to start our own Cable talk show , called: " Book Talk -New Authors- Great Writers.."
Love Joe |

| It's a scam and a waste of time. Oprah no longer accepts unsolicited novels for possible review and any books that show up at Wal-Mart (or any retailer) without being ordered will be tossed into the dumpster.
It's a scam to suck money from you. Keep your hard earned cash. |

| Wow, Chris, it would seem that you are right again ... or is it the first time? I can't remember. Here's the link:

| Thanks , but mine is not a novel. PA usually does what they say they will do. Time will tell. I know Oprah probably would not accept my book from me. Throwing all books from a publisher in the bin is unlikely, however. Even more unlikely if there is a history with the publisher. http://www.publishamerica.com/PressRoom/oprah.asp At least if they do send the books, I can see I won't have much competition. The deal ends tonight. If they don't send the books, I will have a great case against them for false advertising. Their credit card charge will be denied and now I am so happy-- either way I will win. |

| If PA were to place our books in the 10,000 brick and mortar stores they referenced in their promo, there could be some redemption to credibility. Even a thousand stores is better than none. |

| Then again, maybe Oprah or whoever takes care of her mail, has a friend or family member with Parkinson's and will get drawn in by Alice's cover.
Who knows?

| Thanks, Carol, You are upbeat. We will see. I can wail that they didn't do this or that, but they did do a good job on my book and are trying to help with marketing now. I will let you know what happens. Either Oprah will get my book or I will get my money back. I have lost nothing.

| Is Oprah still promoting books? Last I saw she was capitalizing on the tragedy of the woman attacked by the chimp. Are her ratings slipping or something, that she felt it necessary to ask this (blind, brain-damaged, in denial) woman to show everyone her face? |

| I was reading the PAMB (something I actually stopped doing a long time ago, who knows why I went there today). YK, this Oprah business, and this business of telling people they'll send free copies to Walmart and B/N is really reprehensible. Authors there don't KNOW any better than to believe them. They're total novices, and why shouldn't they believe their publisher? PA is deliberately misleading them, implying and lying that donations to retailers will influence them to stock the books. So people are buying stacks of their own books in the belief that the donated ones really will end up on B/N shelves. I really hope PA finds itself on the ass-end of a class action lawsuit over this. |

I wonder how LC got into PA's boards, I guess she must have been published by them at one time ? As for buying one's own books , I don't ! That's my number one rule...
Cheers...Joe |

| Speaking of the PAMB, I just read an announcement there that Willem Meiners is leaving PA to lead a helicopter crew around the world promoting literacy or something. Dude must be caked. |

No! The colour of the book cover wouldn't suit her and she would look a bit silly with a red book on her head. |
