Speaking of Broccoli.... Empty
PostSubject: Speaking of Broccoli....   Speaking of Broccoli.... EmptyThu Sep 17, 2009 3:43 pm

A few years ago, Real Simple magazine came up with a neat idea for saving money and time on food while still serving and eating meals that were healthy and tasty. They managed to come up with 30 different recipes using 10 basic ingredients: Bread (whole-grain); Broccoli; Cheese: cheddar, parmesan, and swiss; Eggs; Fresh herbs: thyme, tarragon, rosemary, parsley, or mint; Meat/fish: chicken breasts, pork tenderloins, or salmon fillets; Milk; Oranges; Pears; and Sweet potatoes.

OK, even looking at the list, you can see there are a few more than 10, and the list doesn't include common staples that they figure you probably have on hand, but it was still a good idea, I thought, and printed out the lists and recipes and used them for a while. Eventually I wanted a bit more variety, and put the lists away and forgot about them, but while I was out shopping today, I saw some of the items and remembered. Luckily, I remembered well enough to pick up the basics, came home, and found the old article online:

http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/recipe-collections-favorites/popular-ingredients/10-ingredients-30-meals-10000001100050/index.html

I thought I would post it in case anyone else is looking for something different to cook or eat.

Dick, I'm sure you will want to show Jackie the link.

I am on my husband's computer since mine isn't working well, and I have bookmarked it in his "Food" file. Maybe he'll check it out! Smile

Thanks, Ann,

I love brccoli. It must not be good for Dick though.

He has lived 84 years without it.

I told Jackie about the site and warned her that calling it up would infect her computer with a deadly virus.
