Happy Birthday! So what exciting things are on the agenda today?

Thank you all. What can I say? I got more cards than I ever have, got a check from half a dozen nice ladies here for our next hamster, got an old Lifebuoy soap tin from Alice and just happen to have a bar of soap to put in it, got a card signed from a bunch of old friends in Muncie who happened to be in the same bar at the same time one night.
Nothing special planned for today, just the same old thing I do every day and enjoy the most. Maybe I'll write a blog looking back on memories of the Wall Street Crash of 1929, or something like that.
So thanks again, everyone. I appreciate it. We plan to find a nice hamster next week. They are all nice, of course.

I never knew until today how much the two of you looked alike.

As I was watching the show, I realized why you and Pete have stayed around: Your world hasn't ended; it's just beginning. Too many of those of your generation that I personally miss aren't here for just that reason. Their world did end.

Enough. When I saw the line-up, I was sure the highlight for me would be watching my hero, Kris Kristofferson, singing "There's a Hole in the Bucket" with Ani deFranco, and it almost was, when after being called Dear Willie in the song (There's a hole in the bucket, Dear Willie, Dear Willie...), he turned to her and said, "My name ain't Willie," but it was blown away by Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello singing "The Ghost of Tom Joad." My children's generation won.

E. Don, you would love every minute if you haven't seen it.

Anyway, Happy Birthday, Dick. We will be celebrating your 90th before you know it.
