| Marie and I are short. I am 5 foot one if I put my neck out as far as it will go above my shoulders. I have felt small in my life, belittled, and downright invisible. I am not really good at confrontations of the stupid kinds. I prefer peace. Of late, it seems that I do not fit. I do not have the glib repartee. I stand and look on. It is not that I do not have ideas, but my fingers do not write the words to fight with. In my day there is not enough hours to do all the labor and stuff that needs done here. My writing has taken a back room. I look in on this message board and see that everyone has the time to do a lot of posting and nonchalant writing. Challenging of each other. I posted a message or two on the Chill Out Bar of PA and the dynamic foursome are in charge again. I mean Pier, James, Rudy, and Kevin. How mean they all are. I do not know what to say about Trolls. I do not care about them at all. I do not know what to say about much, I guess. I do love you all. Love, Betty |

| Betty, I enjoy your posts very much. Someone reminded me of my own advice a while back (that I didn't have to read posts I didn't like or make comments on such posts). It was a good reminder. Keep posting your compassionate and loving thoughts. They are a joy! |

| Betty,
Apart from Brew, there are only a few members around at the time you post -- because you are so busy during the day. That makes it difficult to have an interactive conversation -- but everyone loves reading your stories! I know I don't respond but it's because I have to read and moderate every post and there just isn't enough time in my day to respond to them all.
Keep on trucking (like JoElle!).

| Betty,
Don't tell me Kevin, the happy guy, teamed up with that bunch. I finally remembered Kevin-Go tell him to go soak his head in a rain barrel for me.
He can stop being mean to you.
Thanks, |

| Small is beautiful, Betty, and you are a perfect example of that. Don't let anything stop you from writing and doing all the other things you enjoy. |

| My stepmother who was my best friend in the world was 4'11" of loving. She was my best friend, and I miss her every day. She was teased as a child by her large family and also as an adult. I guess her defense was to be kind to everyone anywhere, and especially this daughter who came into her life broken at the age of 10. All I know about love I learned from her. She was a giant in my heart and still is. In my younger years, I was 5' 8" and we would take long walks together. She would say, "You do realize I have walked ten miles to your five since I take two steps to your one." |

| I have one more "short" story. I lived in Asia and the young woman who cooked and cleaned and took care of my son, Miss Moon, was very short. She had a big heart also, and made my home a special place. When I moved back to San Francisco area, she came there with her new family on their vacation. They gave her a weekend off that she was my guest, a change of venue very difficult for her. At the same time, my stepmother was visiting. The three of us were out walking, and my stepmother, towering over Miss Moon, said it was the first time she felt tall. It's all a matter of perspective. Miss Moon kept trying to walk behind us in respect. My stepmom took her hand and said, "In this country, you are a member of our family; and we walk side by side." |

| All of you lucky short, petite folks. You have no idea how tough life is for the longer folks. Beds are too short.
Enjoy your shortness. |

| In our family of six, we had "the big kids" and "the little kids." There were five years between the two groups. Two of the big kids are six feet tall, and my oldest daughter is five nine. Then there are the "little kids." My son in that group is five foot eight, the next five foot five and the last five foot two. I have been accused, since everything is my fault, of not feeding the second group enough.
The youngest, being short and left-handed, complains about both, but she also considers them unique qualities of who she is.
Betty, we have wandered together on messageboards for years now and you are one of my best friends.
I was five foot five a few years ago, but am shrinking.
Love, Carol |

| I have a picture of my feet. I will look for it and make it my avatar. It scares some people who do not understand what feet are for. Love, Betty |

| These are not my feet, they are my grandson's feet in 1991. They are really nice feet, though. He is a size 15 now. I will keep looking for my own feet. I love the little toes that look like pearls in a row and the clenched toe look, too. He has his grandfather's feet. Love, Betty |
