No matter what age novelists are, they usually have done a lot of work getting to the point where the public first hears about them.

But old at 30--I think not.

I also meant to say that is an interesting blog. I thought he might touch on the fact that sometimes it takes some experience, a little living and enough maturity to use the language effectively.

I disagree with that article on many points.
Aside from the age issue there is the point about debut novelist having written several before getting published. I had only written short 2000 word stories before attempting it. Well I got my first one published albeit only a 27,000 word story but a novel all the same. I don't think I am a rare case.
