No folks, I'm not thinking of robbing a bank. However, I do need to know how many digets make up an American bank account number. Here in the UK it's 8, all grouped together. Is it any different in the US?

Jenny, ours is 10 numbers (if I'm remembering my account number correctly, but I think I am).

Gee, mine is a 9 digit routing number and then a 12 digit number for the account. Might it depend on the bank?

This might be a little late, Jenny, but mine is ten digits with a space between the first five. Like Zada, the nine-number routing number is first, then the check number, then the account number.
