She is in Michigan.

And tomorrow we are meeting at Applebees on Portage Road near South Bend, since we are on our way home from being in South Carolina.

WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Dear Carol,
Please tell Alice and your own self how I envy that Applebees on Portage Road. You know, I would love to be there, have a couple of vodkas before you all arrived, have the whole place ready for famous authors such as your own selves. Lord, I live so far in the boonies, and some times I can see the city from my room as a glow in the distance. The city lights shining on you both, and then your smiles as you drive out into the country where you can smile about the meeting. I am so sorry I cannot be there!

But, if you ever come to the country and be where I am, the stars will shine brighter and I will fatten you both up on strawberry ice cream.....well, that goes for any of you who read my post. I thought about this today. I have to go the my heart doctor to see if he needs to "do anything" to keep me alive for a while. I thought that I will ask him if I should eat a lots of ice cream and fatten my self up, just in case ....

If my heart could light the way for all of you, it would shine. Well it does, you know, but perhaps someone has to pick up the light.

What great fun it'll be, Carol! Say hi to Alice for me.

Our meeting was great! Alice is great! We both got to Applebees at the same time. Alice and her husband got out of their car and there was no question it was Alice: tall, red hair. Her husband is wonderful and got along very well with mine. They had a lot in common, including having to go the extra mile helping their wives.

We could have spent the afternoon. All the way home I kept thinking of things I wish I had said, or asked, or commented on. There were so many subjects we started and never finished.

Alice is energetic, adventurous, humorous, just as we see her here. She is going into withdrawal not being able to get on this messageboard from her daughter's computer, but reading everything we say here.

We talked about how much we liked this messageboard and the people here. That conversation could have lasted much longer.

Oh, how we wish you all could have been there!! You would all love Alice. Well, I think you do already.

I hope she figures out how she can make comments here.

The last thing we talked about was how lucky each of us is to be alive, and perhaps trying to find the why is not possible, but perhaps something as simple as being friends is as good an answer to the why as anything.

I'm glad you girls had fun. I would love to meet at least one of you, but I never go anywhere. Anyone live in eastern NC?

I know I'm going there with my mom this summer. We are going to visit Ed's family.

Don't forget we had our husbands along. We couldn't talk about all of you all the time. They had to get to know each other also and got along very well. They both realize that sometimes Alice and I get somewhat homebound and this messageboard becomes our social network.

But we really did say how much we liked this messageboard.

When I was homebound with six children years ago, a messageboard would have been extremely valuable! I would have loved a place like this.
