| There seem to be two kinds of science that fascinates me. There's this kind, which is about the real world, things that are good for our health and the health of the planet: http://www.freewebs.com/aa_spaceagent1/earthscience-update2004.html And then there's this kind, which is about exercising the mind: Cartesian coordinates Writing the vector equation explicitly, Note that gravity has been accounted for as a body force, and the values of gx, gy, gz will depend on the orientation of gravity with respect to the chosen set of coordinates. The continuity equation reads: The velocity components (the dependent variables to be solved for) are typically named u, v, w. This system of four equations comprises the most commonly used and studied form. Though comparatively more compact than other representations, this is a nonlinear system of partial differential equations for which solutions are difficult to obtain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylindrical_coordinate_system] Cylindrical coordinatesA change of variables on the Cartesian equations will yield [4] the following momentum equations for r, θ, and z: The gravity components will generally not be constants, however for most applications either the coordinates are chosen so that the gravity components are constant or else it is assumed that gravity is counteracted by a pressure field (for example, flow in horizontal pipe is treated normally without gravity and without a vertical pressure gradient). The continuity equation is: Which of these would you prefer? |

| Let's say we put this to someone who is a fan of the late Albert Einstein....? Or a violinist from a classical music orchestra in Vienna....? Or Sir David Attenborough, who is a lifelong naturalist....? |

| Ahad, I'll let Dick solve the equation. He's the mystery writer. |

| It appears to me that those who do all those beautiful bits of scientific wizardry, and revolutionray thinking to invent new things do not necessarily fair much better than the rest of society when it comes to gaining recognition and influence over the course of events. If they did publish "novels" it is likely they wont sell very many...
For example, Sir Alec Jefferys, who has a distingushed position in science and has these millions of medals awarded to him:
Awards and recognition:
20 March 1986 - Fellow of the Royal Society.[9] 1989 - Midlander of the Year. 1991 - Appointed as a Royal Society Research Professor.[10] 26 November 1992 - Honorary freeman of the City of Leicester.[3] 1994 - Knighted. 1996 - Albert Einstein World Award of Science.[11] 1998 - Australia Prize. 1999 - Stokes Medal 2004 - Honorary doctorate awarded by the University of Leicester, where Jeffreys is a member of staff.[12] 2004 - Royal Medal of the Royal Society.[13] 2004 - Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine.[14] 2005 - Albert Lasker Award for Clinical Medical Research,[15] jointly with Edwin Southern of the University of Oxford.[16] 2005 - National Academy of Science (USA),[17] elected member. December 2006 - Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by the University of Liverpool. 2006 - Morgan Stanley Great Briton Award for the Greatest Briton of the year, winner in the category of Science and Innovation, as well as the overall winner. 8 March 2007 - Honorary degree from King's College London.[18] 23 January 2008 - Graham Medal of the Glasgow Philosophical Society, awarded after he gave his lecture "DNA Profiling; Past, present and future", which was nominated as the Graham Lecture.[19]
Would have a pretty low popularity and hit rate on his YouTube video:
