Do you like to eat nothing after midnight?

Drink little water?

Have no breakfast?

Remove all of your jewelry?

Maybe I wll lose a pound or two--here's hoping

No wonder I weigh so much--dental crowns, brain pacemakers, batteries, steel cable wiring sternum together. I love to stump the doctors--I will ask them how much all of that weighs.

That wouldn't give me trouble, Alice. It's the way I live. But just think, it soon will all be over. I mean the operation. You'll be doing fine in no time.

When my husband had his hip replacement surgery, his pre-op was kind of humorous. He had never had surgery before and had no clue as to what to expect. "How do you get the right size hip so I don't have one leg shorter than the other?" he asked.

Then I got into the act trying to be helpful as the surgeon was about to put his signature on the hip the surgery would be on. "Make sure you get the right hip," I said.

He said, "no, not the right hip. The correct hip is the left hip."

"When is lunch?" were my husband's first words on waking up from surgery. "Tomorrow," was the answer.

Ah, Alice, I'm thinking of you.

Glad to see you here, Alice! Do you have your computer at the hospital or are you home?

Are you home already? That was fast. I fear that I would have to ask to sleep through the pre op! You get to deduct 40 pounds just for the batteries? You are carrying a lot of extra weight, girl. I have no excuse and even take off my shoes to weigh in at the doctor's office.

As Carol said, you take good care of yourself and don't overdo.
