Gaining Steam and Losing Focus Empty
PostSubject: Gaining Steam and Losing Focus   Gaining Steam and Losing Focus EmptyMon Oct 27, 2008 6:59 pm

I have not been on the board much lately. I now understand the lifespan of books. My second book Rooftop Diva (2006) is making headway in its audio format through Recorded Books. It's showing up in libraries across the country. This is the Worldcat link and there are many more that use Horizon or Polaris for their catalog software. There are quite a few that carry the paper book also. Amazon just added the audio download to their listing.

On the other hand it is difficult to press the marketing pedal for my third book like I did for Rooftop Diva or remain focused on cranking out a 4th book. A busy work schedule, being distracted by politics, the economy and getting my son off to the military seems to have sapped my focus. Hopefully within the next month I can settle down and get past ch. 1. By the way I have about 8 ch. 1s of different stories completed.

Hopefully, things will sttle down a bit for you soon. Best wishes for your son, especially.

Glad to hear Rooftop Diva is doing well. Hope the rest falls in place for you.

This just makes me understand how hard it is to write while dealing with regular life.

Congratulations on Rooftop Diva, DT. I know what you mean by the distractions...

I am working on a humor genre short story, and I just don't feel very funny lately. Even my muse is a sourpuss.

Know what you all mean. I have a theory...of course, I have a theory about everything.

Bear with me...

We're animals. Human, but animals. It's fall. Our internal clock tells us to eat (put on insulation) and sleep. We go against this by plowing through with all the things we have to do.

Still, our bodies want to eat, then sleep. Gaining Steam and Losing Focus 143616 Sleep

Kind of hard to fit creativity and enthusiasm into the mix.

Great answer, Madhatter!

Sometimes I'm writing, sometimes editing, sometimes looking for a publisher and following their requirements for submission, and sometimes just putting things together.

Right now my sister-in-law and I are working on getting my book of fairy tales, (put together for family and friends,) published with lulu. We had wanted to have it landscape size but cannot get the distribution package with that size, so now are changing to another size, a large square 8 inches by 8 inches.

Even though I am retired, it is still difficult to fit writing in sometimes.

Life does get busy, and I think my internal clock actually belonged to a bear at one time, Rhett. Is it time to hibernate yet? Laughing
