I Miss Her

She was a great friend.  I admired her intellect. She understood me.  Ann L Joiner will be sorely missed by me.

Agree. She sure kept her condition well hidden, tho. I guess we can be thankful that it was fast and relatively painless, at least that's the impression I got from reading her update thread. I mean, she was getting treatments and riding home!

I feel such a loss - always thought we might cross paths and have a laugh together, a cup of coffee.

What happened?

She had RA (rheumatoid arthritis)  a very bad disease which attacks the immune system.
She fell and landed on her head.    
A ct scan showed a mass which proved to be cancer. She had surgery then three radiation treatments, landed back in the hospital and passed.

Thanks for the info, Alice.  I am still stunned about it.  All day I kept remembering our communication by email and on the forum.  It just doesn't seem real.

My condolences as well for Ann's family. May they find peace and comfort during this difficult time. Ann wrote one of my favorite books from the PA days. God bless her.

My heart is still breaking and there's no one in the real world with whom to share my grief - no understanding for the depth of feelings for a person on the Internet that we've talked with since 2006 - about all of life's problems and solutions - the gamut.  It's difficult to post knowing there will be no response from Ann.

As I was driving to deliver the veges today, I thought about what you said, DK. It seems to me that people such as our friend Annie, who put their real self out here on the internet, are better known to us than our own neighbors or people we have known all our lives.  The written word is the magic wand that allows that impossibility to happen.  One mind connected to another mind via the internet and the written word.  Heart to heart. No doubt in my mind that Ann was exactly the person she said she was via her writings. 
I awoke this morning with the words, "I hate long goodbyes." popping into my head.  I can see Annie saying that. 
Goodbye, my dear friend Annie.  You will be sorely missed.

I'm sad to learn this about Ann. I can only remember conversations we've had through the years online and pray for her family.

Thank you, Alice. I drop in from time to time, but haven't been writing. Real life has been my main mission these days. It is nice to see everyone. I do miss the old times.

Alice, for the time being I have put writing on the back burner, but I am going to go back to it later on. 

I was thinking about Ann today and how much she enriched my life with her knowledge of the written word. I don't think I ever told her how much I appreciated her posts. I am praying for her family and for all of those who cared for her.

                                        Yes it is sad about Ann, I keep thinking about her books she
  worked on and her grand-daughter who she loved so much, I hope her daughter makes
  a hope chest kind of box with many of Ann's private things, you know like Jewelry, her
  hand written notes, copies of her books, have someone make copies of her many posts
  here and when this young lady becomes of age she'll have a treasuer trove of goodies to
  read about her Grandma... Oh I love reading your posts on Face Book....
