America – He’s Your President for Goodness Sake!

In President Obama, Americans have the real deal, the whole package and a leader that citizens of almost every country around the world look to with great envy. Given the opportunity, Canadians would trade our leader, hell, most of our leaders for Obama in a heartbeat.

What America has in Obama is a head of state with vitality and insight and youth. Think about it, Barack Obama is a young Nelson Mandela. Mandela was the face of change and charity for all of Africa but he was too old to make it happen. The great things Obama might do for America and the world could go on for decades after he’s out of office.

America, you know not what you have.

The disrespect comes from the historical, deep well that gives whites permission to disrespect those whose skin is dark and whose heritage includes African roots.  "Hey, boy, what you doin' there? That's for white's only," the man called to the boy about to take a drink at the fountain.

Washington, D.C. was part of the segregated south.  It still has pockets of the poorest neighborhoods in the nation.

The presidency is for white men only.  The hate generated by the losing party toward the dark skinned family in office was fed by and fed into that historical process, just as any group feeds fears and hates to groom the followers to their needs.

What's even worse, is that they didn't even bother to hide their bigotry and used it at every opportunity.  As a result, the Congress did nothing and the citizens of this country were handed a plate of hate to make up for what they really lost under the Bush years.

No president is perfect.  President Obama was out there with expectations from those that elected him that were impossible to fulfill.  Yet, he did meet many of the promises in spite of the lack of support and the downright disrespect, obstruction and commentators running hate mongering.

I admire President Obama, Michelle Obama and their children for living in the White House and putting up with the constant chatter of disrespect for their every breath.  Both President Obama and Michelle Obama have outstanding credentials that could provide their family with a very nice style of living without the constant negatives.

I am ashamed of those in high offices who have made President Obama's "demise" their raison d'etre when it should have been the nation's business as their primary mission.  Shame.

It makes one wonder what is going on with the media.

People just swallow what's dished out when it meets their own emotional core needs.  Facts don't get in the way.  They even attack Michelle Obama for attempting to bring healthier food into the schools.  Those poor schools just can't afford to feed good food to the children and she is some kind of socialist for attempting to improve childhood health.  That is how sickening this whole hate the Obama's thing has become.  The recent dig at the bored teenagers at a turkey pardon was beyond the pale.  It makes me ashamed. How it must look to the developed world.  It's not just the disrespect, but it's the downright lies about the current administration that the people swallow.  All around us things are improving - look at the gas prices for goodness sake and people are complaining about the consequences of low gas prices.  At least the newspapers now have a few columns of jobs available.  That's new.  A few roads are improving.  Housing starts are up.  Those are just things an ordinary person can't ignore even without the news and sound bites from the FOX folks.
