Could someone please tell me again why I should blindly trust our governement, regardless who is in charge?

Can't answer that, Don.  Your book, "The Contract", implicates a branch of the government in mass coverup.  Politics and money are in control and that includes influence peddling.

Belfield’s book was described by the respected book reviewer Kirkus Reviews as an “oddly entertaining exposé,” with readers advised to “keep a tumbler full of salt grains close at hand” when reading it.

As soon as the Liberty's radar's picked up the fighters entering their airspace the ship would have identified itself and asked the fighters to do the same.

Even if it was an accident, within ten seconds of the first shot, the Liberty would have identified itself again and the attack could have been broken off!!!!!

If Israel thought it was an Egyptian ship, what was their justification for attacking it in international waters?

If one recalls the children's story about the little boy crying wolf,  it is much the same with Israel. The lies are so numerous that even when they speak some truth, it is not believed.  The lies continue with what is and continues to happen in the occupied territory. Eventually, as with the information about the ship Liberty, the truth will surface.  The sad thing is that so many people will have died before that happens.  The illegal occupation is real as are the atrocities.
Those who don't want to hear the truth will continue their support of a rogue country.  Those who dare speak out against this rogue country are immediately labeled. To keep quiet or be muzzled as were the sailors on the Ship Liberty, doesn't change the truth.  Justice will not be served and there will be no prosecutions.  Politics and money rule.
