I like tomatoes, peas and mushrooms. These are three of my favorite foods. I like them by themselves or mixed with other foods. These are three of my wife's least favorite foods. She avoids eating any of them unless it can't be avoided.
So, this is my thought. Why is the human psyche such that we tend to disagree on almost everything. I don't mean we have argue or come to blows, but simply have a different opinion. We have the same taste buds. Perhaps it's just because we're individuals and as such we fight for individuality.
For the record, my wife (and anyone who stands with her), don't know what good food is!! Tomatoes (very good), peas (very good) and mushrooms (so good). Just kidding, my wife is a sweetheart.

Snails are territorial. If you throw them into your neighbour's yard, they slowly make their way back. Millions of years of evolution have taught them that if they all feed in the same place, they deplete the resources, starve and die. If they stay on their own patch, there's always plenty food. Same with our taste buds. If we all liked the same thing, there wouldn't be enough food to go round. Variety, as they say, is the spice of life.

Does that include escargot bourguignonne? I would never have thought of snails in any form as a human food source, but after my father, a worldly man who had travelled a lot and loved experiencing new things, convinced me to try them, I was hooked. He even gave Bill and me a set of serving pieces, and they became a regular first course at dinners in our home. Most of the guests agreed, after giving them a try. Some said it was because of the butter and garlic, rather than the snails.

It's definitely the butter and the garlic. I feel the same about Sushi - it's the dipping sauces that make the Sushi tolerable.
I had those snails once at a fancy dining out event in Washington D.C. when I was an intern. I had to leave the table to not be an embarrassment. They were horrid from the idea to the taste.

Charlie, I came across this recipe for scrambled eggs with tomatoes and mushrooms a couple of years ago. I shared it here at the time, and managed to offend Shelagh because she doesn't care for eggs and olive oil served together, but it's been a hit with family, so you might give it a try.

Oh, no, not you, Ann. Just Gordon Ramsay; he offends everyone. He's in trouble right now:
