| 5/1/2014 Just read that AT&T want to buy Direct TV. Plus we have Comcast to buy Time Warner...I think this will be a horror, no competition, it's a known fact there is no regulations on Cable TV or Satellite Dish, regulations have been off for over 20 years. Read on.. http://money.cnn.com/2014/05/01/investing/att-directv/index.html?iid=HP_LN What is your opinion and who do you use and why ? Cheers... Joe... |

| I find the whole television/internet/cell phone/home phone business a morass purposefully complicated and expensive to the profitable benefits of the large corporations controlling the air waves.
Give me back the days of free tv on rabbit ears and tall antennas. Where people could not get stations, they built giant antennas and charged small fees to connect. I guess that was the beginning of the end.
When they came out with "boxes" to connect to digital because analog tv ended - kaput - it was supposed to remain "free" for local channels by using an antenna and the boxes. They never worked. I bet the profits of the cable companies and dish companies skyrocketed.
I got DISH because it was bundled with my Century phone service and Internet. Then I was sick of losing shows every time a cloud passed over or a drop of rain hit the dish and spent the extra to upgrade to prism. Well, my $75 bill for all three (tv, phone and internet) after the cheap intro six months jumped to $140 a month - TWICE for basically the same stuff, just remaining on during storms and a bit faster internet.
I'm with you Joe. I watch so little tv I'm about to find another method, perhaps switching to Internet only. |

| Yes, I've been following. I don't hold out much promise for them. Maybe I'll be surprised. The big guys will squash them.
As you know, I preferred President Obama over candidate Romney. I have heard, however, that President Obama is close friends with some Comcast higher ups. Politicians are politicians whether they are the ones I pick or not. |

The companies will be running to Washington with heavy, I mean heavy bags of money for the politicos and they'll get their way. It's up to the American public not to be lazy and stand up to the Cable and Dish Co.'s and say we're not going to take it anymore ! I wonder what they pay in the United Kingdom ? Maybe Shelagh has some answers?
Cheers......Joe |
