Figures for Woofer Coloring Book

Say Betty, I just had an idea for illustrating your book. Learn Sketch Up. It's a free program (download at sketchup.com), doesn't take long to learn, and it has a feature (website, actually) called the Warehouse:

where you can find anything. Millions of drawings that Sketch Up users upload and share, all free to use, no strings attached. I did a search for different animals, and even found those. All are editable, so you can erase the color, then print them out as black and white outlines for a coloring book.


BTW, Shelagh, are you ever going to fix the problem of the banner ad obscuring the top part of the message board? It covers the first two topics and is even covering the subject heading of this post. I click off this site a lot now without reading or posting due to that. And it's on your end, not mine. This only happens on your site.

Here's a link to what I'm seeing. I'd put a picture in, but the insert picture icon is now gone, replaced with a "host an image" icon that doesn't work (or maybe it does, but I'm not going to waste any more time on it trying to find out how).

Wow!  I have this cool program called Ghostery that eliminates all banners, ads, extra stuff period.  Sometimes it takes out more than I'd like it to or removes a cookie I need - but mostly it gives me beautiful, clear viewing without anything ad related (there are some exceptions - advertisers have their ways around - but it's rare).

Betty's website is still frozen, so I've set up a new free one that she can use in the meantime. I downloaded a picture from the site you linked to and uploaded it to Wooffer's Coloring book:

The home page isn't finished yet, and I haven't added all the reviews!

I have a pop up blocker and all the anti-ad programs that I want to have. I'm not installing another program just for this site (esp. some unknown "free" one that may conflict with my other programs).

My popup blocker has started going off a lot on this site, too. I recently set it to block all popups on this site only. Popups are needed on other sites for various functions. They're needed here, too, for the message alert, but oh well. This site may be infected, actually.

If you can't fix this, why not just remove the ad? Is it really making that much money for you?

This time the ad completely obscured this thread, so I couldn't click on it at all. I had to refresh -didn't work- leave the site, come back -and then I was able to click on a little bit of it. Can't imagine why you think that anyone would do that regularly instead of just leaving.

It's a separate issue, too, from the popups. I don't even know what they are, but Firefox goes off every single time I come here. Yeah, I'm concerned this site has a virus, and it's probably best to just stay away until you get it fixed.

I have no trouble anywhere with Ghostery. I have never had any issues with this forum.  I can shut Ghostery off any time on any page if I want the ads (which I sometimes do) or the popups.  It's the only blocker I use, period. 

I wonder if other people who post to this site are having the same troubles as you are, LC?  Maybe it's the setting you have for your screen resolution.  I know some web sites were a problem for me until I learned to adjust the resolution for those few.  

If Shelagh makes money from the ads, I credit her for it.  I wouldn't be clicking on the ads so I'm no loss with my Ghostery; but some ads may interest other people and it is the only non-subscription way to get some little revenue for running a forum.

I just shut off Ghostery and did not get the banner issue you mentioned and that I saw from the url you posted.

Oh, ok, it's a Forumotion problem. I see a lot of others are having it, too. Hope they get it fixed. Looks like the ads aren't yours, either. I thought you had discretion of placing them or not.

Yes, I looked at Betty's site, it's very nice! Next I think you should download lots of Sketch Up animal drawings and make her coloring book.

DK -I get the issue on every computer I use, including work ones, which I'm not supposed to configure differently. Re screen resolution, that doesn't make a difference, either.

I don't think anyone is interested in ads. People tolerate them in exchange for something else they find valuable. I tolerate them on news media sites that I read, and even then, just up to a point. I've deleted some sites from my bookmarks because the ads were so intrusive.

I just put ads back on my YouTube channel, which now has 46 subscribers who have racked up over 7,000 total views. I do no promotion whatsoever, but YouTube has such a global audience I don't have to (at least for my modest ambitions for the channel).  They put my vids in sidebars and suggestions, and that draws people. Half of my subscribers are from the Middle East and Indonesia, go figure. 

I'll keep the ads on for a few months to see what kind of revenue they generate. If it's not much, I'll take them off again. I think viewership builds faster without ads, as do shares, and my goal is to gather info on what info is most needed for my books, anyhow. Some of my vids have been embedded in forums where the views racked up fast. I don't know that they'd have embedded a vid with ads. But I guess I'll see.

Shelagh has worked so hard on my website and problems with webs. 
The site she has made for me is better than the site I made for myself.  It looks better and loads better. I have sent you the pictures, Shelagh, for my currant coloring book.  I have changed my profile on published authors to reflect the site you have made for me.

Dear Shelagh, I have tried to change my www on my profile here but it will not change for me.  I just got an e mail that my site is unfrozen.  I like what you have done for me so much better that I want to use it only.  I believe my domain name expires in June, so I would just not renew. Maybe I cannot change it because of the picture of my book that is linked to Amazon that is right under www.woofferbook.com.  Al so generously hosted that image for me.  I would like to keep it.

I've had the exact same issue for weeks and also choose to stay away as I fear malicious popups and these fit the profile. As DK noted, though, Ghosterly took care of the problem in both Chrome and Firefox. Norton did not block these ads despite my popup blocker. I chose NOT to share ANYTHING with the developers when installing the program and to block everything as well. No problems so far. It was impossible to view or post on this site. The Spanish-language ads sent me over the top and I stopped logging on altogether. I know Shelagh has nothing to do with this.
