An adventure with the Merry Folk of Sherwood.

Maid Marian sat on a rock on the edge of the seashore, waiting for her mom to return so that she could find out what incarnated creature Alice had returned as.

Maid Marion's mom had been before the Incarnation Tribunal so many times that she was on a first name basis with all of the council members. They loved her!

It was New Year's Day when they announced that by unanimous vote she was the new Head Judge of the Tribunal. It was a great honor. The job came with a Standard Operations Manual. Rule number one was the Head Judge could not Incarnate her/his own self. It was the end of her many and varied lives, but she took the job.

When Alice stood before the Tribunal for her first incarnation and explained about Maid Marion and Robin and the hideous beast and the licking of chops as they salivated around Maid Marion, Maid Marion's mom looked at Alice and said . . .

Yes, yes, yes?

"If you stamp your foot like that and talk with your bottom lip all stuck out, how is anyone to understand you? Breathe in and start at the beginning of yesterday!"

Alice blew her nose and glared.

" I was just standing there," said Alice, "when all of a sudden the beast had his tongue around my head and down his gullet I went."

Maid Marion's mom cast her eyes toward the hideous beast and started laughing.

"You have arrived here by mistake methinks! The beast is throwing you up!"

In an instant, Alice lay in a puddle of foul smelling green slime on the beach.

Before Maid Alice's wits had returned to her, a beautiful blue wave wash over her.

She was clean and as good as new.

Except she had been half ripped apart and one fourth digested by the hideous beasts...

When Maid Marian saw the apalling state of her dear maid, Alice, she ran along the white, sandy beach in search of a herbal remedy. As she reached the water's edge, she saw something popping about among the waves that lapped against the shoreline. She tiptoed into the shallow sea and pulled out a bottle, which had the following label still attached:



She ran back along the beach and poured the blueberry ale down Alice's throat. The effect was astonishing. Alice recovered and vowed to return to Sherwood Forest to find more of this healing liquor.

"Thank you Maid Marion," rasped Alice. "I had no idea you esteemed me so highly-- to work so hard to bring me back. I am forever indebted to you.

"Your beauty and comfort are my first priorities."
Where is Robin? Wait till he sees you!"
Romance is alive and well again...

I see that everyone is in need of some primping! Bring out the rollers! Robin should be here shortly.

"Thank you, dear Helen, You are so reliable , why do I ever worry about how things will get done?'' exuded Alice...

Friar tuck was mumbling to himself....."Damn Robin and his fixation with the high sea. The last time I experienced high C's was in the Abbey chior and that was not a pleasant experience for a barratone going through puberty."

Robin is sinking and the sailboat, Diane, is about to sail away. His fascination with Maid Marion is waning, he hears a voice trying to hit a high "C" note. He hopes it's friar Tuck trying to signal someone. The slur in the tone could mean that the good friar had imbibed again. Just hope his voice doesn't break before the message is received, thought Robin. Robin feels thirsty and could use a schluck of the friar's brew before checking out permanently.

All of a sudden, Robin caught a glimpse of Maid Marion's beautiful, shimmering, curly locks
and decided sobriety and life was the best option for him...

"Oh cassocks" cried Friar Tuck. "I am soaked through and in need of a good drink." he croaked as he pick up an empty flask of ale. " Oh no Robin got there first."

When Alice saw the state of Friar Tuck she was so happy to remember that Ann had returned.
Ann was great at rehabilitating heavy drinkers...

Yes, Ann could do that, if introducing them to the salubriousness of a good French wine or an occasional gin martini (very dry - Tanqueray 10 works nicely.) would do the trick.

Maiden Ann

"Thank you Ann," whispered Alice. "You never let me down. Now I don't see why
Robin doesn't go for you and leave Maid Marion to her folly.

Maybe without strong drink, he will regain his senses.

"I've hated wine." Tuck moaned. " Ever since that experience with the Abbotts communion wine... well..... I thought it was wine.... it tasted foul and made me sick for days. The Abbott just laughed when I told him, that's when I found out it was never wine in that bottle. When a man such as an Abbott relieves himself in the night why oh why put it in a bottle?"

Being Scottish, the Abott likes to share a wee drink.

Has Maid Marion been mixing drinks? Could explain much.

Alice started to say something then thought, 'I had better wait until Ann comes, she is so good at explaining things, she knows words I have never heard of...'


Then there is Helen, She is purely magical...

Maiden Ann shall take her usual stand, squarely straddling the middle of the fence.

Moderation is the key.
