| In this new century I would like to see America become civilized. I want children cared for and and fed and educated well. I want good teachers paid and respected. I want America to move forward and not go backward. I want the death penalty abolished. I want jails improved. I want mental health improved.. I want Christians to drop their holier than thou stance. If I think of more I will let you all know:) I WANT CONGRESS TO HAVE THE SAME HEALTH CARE AS WE DO, WORK 40 HOURS PER WEEK AND NO VACATIONS UNLESS THEIR WORK IS DONE.

| A pretty good summary. Is that your slate? I will vote for you - but not right now. Can you wait til 2016 and give Hilary a run? |

| Alice, 40 hours and no vacation? In the first year they should get one week just like new employees get. Usually the first year is one week paid vacation; sometimes the second year rates two but in one job I had, it took five years to get two weeks vacation.
I like your platform. Specific and to the point. Simple. But for some reason, simply impossible to put into action.
The ones who get the attention are the ones with high paid lobbyists and interest groups. That explains child hunger, poverty and crumbling schools. No high paid lobbyists. Thank goodness for AARP or the elderly would be worse off. |

| I no longer wish an answer to my questions.
Timeliness is important to me and inasmuch as Romney has both feet in his mouth and thus nothing to stand on , I don't wish to put his supporters on the spot. |

| Alice, that was priceless! No wonder only a few right leaning people on this forum have the courage to continue posting - it takes intellectual sharpness to keep up with you!

| Thank you, DK. You have eloquence and charm. I did not mean to end this thread and respect all people who expressed opinions--just don't agree with them all. |

| Alice,
With all due respect to all opinions stated, I stand by everything I've written in this and every other thread on the subject. People are welcomed to disagree or agree as they see fit; others can read and judge the relative value and objectivity of all our comments in proper context, or not. It is not my intention to change minds or hearts. I would have responded had I been able to log in in the past couple of days, but frankly it is unlikely we will agree on the relative value of the candidates. The American people will decide, not us, and they will have to live with the wisdom or folly of their choices. I have always said that people get the government they deserve. And they certainly free to admire the glory of the emperor's--or president's--new clothes. |

| And of course all are free to admire the Pretender to the Throne's Ozwellian Scarecrow characteristics. |

| E. Don,
Whatever the outcome, no clicking of ruby slippers will get the country on course after the election--just another four years of poems, prayers and promises by whatever pretender ascends the throne. |

| If Obama loses, I hope that the Democrats will oppose Romney's tax cuts for the rich and repeal of Health care.
Odd situation--Why didn't GWB ,Cheny, John McCain and Palin speak at the RNC?
I don't think they, the RNC, wanted us to remember them.
They are not the same. In fact they could not be more opposite. I see a half white half black gentleman who wants to preserve the middle class. I see a pure white rich man who wants to advance the cause of the rich He is not eloquent and has even managed to offend our English allies.

| 9/19/2012 Then again it could happen like in the past a Pres. gets re-elected and Congress and the senate is the opposite politicians , then he's screwed to the wall and four more years of promises and nothing gets done...I wish I had a crystal ball ............. Cheers..Joe.. |
