Anyone having tiny black ants appearing in your house? We have never had these before. Dave is spreading vinegar about to discourage them. They seem to be entering by the front door. They are not welcome.

Not yet. But we've had problems in the past. We keep ant traps in the kitchen and entrances this time of year and they seem to work. Boric acid around window and door sills also works where you see ants making incursions. I love ants, but not in the house (and not carpenter ants anywhere).

Yes, they eventually swarmed on several walls overnight and laid their white egg pockets. It was like a living nightmare. I had to call the exterminators and then the cleaning people as the remains after they were killed were horrid and sickening with my asthma.
I had tried everything, and they kept coming back. Of course the exterminators said I just irritated them and they came back in force. They are very intelligent.

Back in the old days, when almost all houses had the under the house crawl place, any number of varmits and vermin found that spot to be the most wonderful place to live. I have thought, at times, it would be a very comfortable place my own self. (Years ago, that is)
People bought sulfur powder(now called flour of sulfur) and put a little line of it all around the house and lit it. The fumes ridded the house of roaches, rats, mice, ants, and most people. hahah. I know that the flour of Sulfur is still available at feed stores because I have bought it for making a paste for the cure of injury to animals on this farm and some times people.
I am not just another pretty face, you know!
Love,
Betty

I was in this house ten years before the ant invasion. I still have nightmares. I now pay exterminators to come on a regular basis. Between the ants and the snakes and the giant spiders - I just gave in to poison.

DK,
Thank you. I am blessed--only ants to contend with! I could not abide the snakes. LOL

DK, did you say snakes? I would be out of there in a flash or be in a killing mood. I would buy what ever weapon was available to kill the snakes. So much for my stand on gun control.

Abe,
How about snake repellent? The first time we visited Michigan, I saw bags of it for sale. When I asked about snakes, they claimed they didn't have any. It must have worked.
