| Here we go again--"black is white and if we can't see it we are stupid and dumb or uninitelligent and rude."
I think I will turn my attention elsewhere.
I don't like earthquakes and see no reason why any scientist would cover the cause of one--that is tantamount to murder--mass murder.
In Washington state our homes are bolted to the foundations of our houses. The skyscrapers are built to sway, but nothing is for sure safe and sound. It is predicted one will hit here wth force sufffiicient to knock us into the ocean. Who cares what causes that? I don't thinik it matters what the construction is at that point.

James) The prevailing "wisdom" contends that earthquake is caused by brittle fracture of rock and a subsequent sliding motion that sends out shock waves. But shock waves radiate out in all directions - but earthquake tends to hit like an arrow and targets small regions. Earthquake also changes earth’s rate of rotation and that is an impossible scenario for gravitationally induced fracture Earthquake, therefore, cannot be caused by brittle fracture It must be caused by something else - and that something else is likely to be a form of lightning that is contained within the earth. It is not related to atmospheric lightning / James |

| I think the earth decided hurricanes and tornadoes are enough for Florida. If we had an earthquake, the sea would rush in. We're barely above sea level as it is! |

| How can we help the victims of this earthquake now? Disputing the cause of the earthquake will do nothing. It is too late to change the construction methods. |

Disputing the cause of the earthquake will do nothing. It is too late to change the construction methods. http://www.thesundaily.com/article.cfm?id=58684 After reading this, I would guess that for now, we might contact our local Red Cross and ask what might be needed. Presidents Bush and Clinton have headed relief efforts most recently. Perhaps they will again. Ann |

| Oops, I should have said Bush and Clinton might head the US effort. So many countries are giving support. I thought it was interesting that New Zealand was sending search and rescue teams, since the last major quake hit Christchurch there so recently. Having been through the same thing, they are clearly eager to pay back.
One thing about disasters, they tend to bring people together.

| here is a bit from Richard's post to the ALMMW that I referred to in "Current Events," which seems pertinent: - Quote :
- I was wrapping up our meeting with the principal and the teachers on the
2d floor of our school building (all concrete). At 2:46 pm (I checked my watch) the earthquake hit. We get lots of them here but they are "routine". Small. You can barely feel them, if you feel them at all, in the school building. It's built to stand up to quakes. Anyway. This was not routine. The building started to tremble and wobble and the we froze. The principal said "earthquake ... get out." Some of the teachers just stood around like idiots. I told them "wake up and get out." I moved out with the principals. Others followed....
Pray for this country. We need these people to know we are behind them. This is a people of enormous strength and talent but they lack resources. We need to stand strong with them right now. |

Move! Don't live in a flood zone. |

| Thank you, Abe,
My husband is a forestor. We never lived in a flood zone or at the base of a hill for fear of mudslides.
New Orleans should have been relocated. |

| Well James is gone--hope he is constructing earthquake proof buildings everywhere! Since he wouldn't tell me how to do it, he will just have to do it himself. Aw Phooey! |

| The news coming through in the UK says that the damage to buildings was not as bad as everyone feared. The Tsunami appears to have been more damaging than the quake. |

James) You are wrong Alice. The longer we put off solving earthquake - the more victims we'll count, and the more buildings, bridges and homes we'll have to re-construct I'll post a new thread that will show that in 1991 NASA demonstrated that earthquake changes earth's rotation. The data was published in 1993) |

| Post away, James. Probably everybody knows that an earthquake causes an infinitesimal change in the Earth's rotation. And?
That doesn't mean there is a connection between the pole shift and your latest theory. |

| It is my opinion that James is a searcher of truth. I see no reason to disparage theories that go outside accepted dogma. It is, after all, the way that truth is discovered. Personally, I am not educated in any of the science behind James' statements. I cannot just discard him as a heretic. Love, Betty |

| James is not a heritic! He merely sees a conspiracy theory everywhere. We cannot solve earthquakes. They are not in our power to predict or control, My husband is a forestor and knows a thing or two, too. He does not agree with James. My husband is not trying to cover up anything. Thousands of people perish during earthquakes. It would be a dastardly deed to cover up a solution. |
