Cell Phones Empty
PostSubject: Cell Phones   Cell Phones EmptyFri Jan 14, 2011 6:55 pm

Well, I am now certain that every driver whose negligence has been a threat to my safety was using their cell phone. I can add to that list those who are a threat to the safety of others such as bike riders on the marked paths alongside the road, the walkers, etc.

It's not bad enough that during season the elderliest driving population is on the road, turning left from the right lane and leaving their turn signals in New York or Michigan or wherever they may have driven better.

What is your opinion about driving and cell phones?

What is your opinion about driving and cell phones?

It is the same as my opinion about people applying make-up using their rear-view mirror, or changing the CD in the player, or reading a map, or dong anything else that distracts them from what they are supposed to be doing, which is watching the road and driving with as much focused attention as they can muster. I see it here all the time in Santa Fe , it's against the law here if
you get caught it's a $75- fine. I carry one for emergencies and I
never use it when driving and it's always off..... Cell Phones 810142

Cell phones ring. Texting removes the eyes and hands from the job of driving. I believe the states with laws requiring hands free cell phone usage in automobiles have the right idea. Even so, talking even hands free is a distraction.

Yes, people eat, put on makeup, turn around and discipline their children, etc., but these are more incidental (though equally as dangerous) than the continuous cell phone use by a high percentage of drivers, including teenagers and those of advanced age.

Since people don't have the common sense to save their calls or pull over to the side of the road or use the little ear plugs or the blue tooth, it seems laws need to protect others.

Of course, just like helmet laws, there will always be those who "fear" one more infringement on their rights to harm themselves and others.

Common sense. Does that mean anything anymore?

While making a turn one day I saw a lady driving a mini van
trying to make a right turn near where I was at a stop sign
and holding the cell phone with the other hand trying to
make the turn , scared the hell out of me, if I was a cop
I would have given her a $150- fine....
