I guess it must be family tradition to put children down in the Carter family. I don't like the way Jimmy Carter talks about his kids, but see where it came from.

Carter demonstrated it takes more than brains to be a good President.
I feel he lacked common sense

I liked Carter and still do. He is a man of integrity. I believe he was too honest to be president. He was not a good orator and therefore came across as being weak. Unfortunately, he will receive his accolades once he is gone.

He was very honest. I liked him also--just not all the things he said about his kids.

More admirable to me are parents who refrain from negative comments about their offspring.

One place he said he was disappointed that his kids did not go to church.

I doubt that remark won them back.

I have two children one a church goer, one not. I respect each one and realize they have reasons for their actions.

I am certainly not disappointed in either of them.

I knew there was a reason I LOVE Irish Coffee.

ps -

if his biggest disappointment is that they don't go to church, they can't be doing too bad. There are plenty of wicked people attending church and plenty of good people who never step foot inside.

The main reason to emphasize church attendance is to be certain the members put their tithe in the dish. If you stay home, that doesn't happen, regardless of your faith. I pay my contributions quarterly from my online account and never put a coin in the church basket. Anyone around me over the years probably thinks I never contribute. "Judge not lest ye be judged" or something like that...

Sometimes my church is the Gulf, others the Everglades. I do like my church congregation and minister, though, because of its open thought and attend from attraction rather than obligation. The discipline of an hour's worth of positive thought about being a better person and contributing to a better world is time well spent.
