| LC, What a hoot! That must have been fun to do.
I give you an A +++++
Alice, I have a supply of poles if they accept the 9.95 offer. We will have to charge 19.95 to ship five, however.
We are not just a bunch of pretty faces out here!
Love, Betty

| Listen you guys, I think it is very creative to send a new email every single day with a new way to redo our books and buy more. Wow, I wonder if this person gets a bonus for the sales from the ideas . . . |

Betty, Thanks! I have decided not to include the bean poles--unless they pay $200.00 each plus $19.95 to ship. Since you have the poles, you can approach them with the offer. |

| I am glad I never had dealings with PA. Just would rather collect my royalties (no matter how small) and keep my money in my pocket until I can spend it on the grandkids. Anyway, I do LOVE your letter!!! Very clever. Given the posts of read regarding PA and the many writers who are frustrated with them ... I can imagine that yours is probably one of the more polite ones. |

Funny thing-- I have no regrets about PA--wish they would market differently.
If I hadn't gone with PA, I'd have missed a lot of fun.
I am still having fun laughing at them.
They didn't ruin my dreams, or anyone else's that I am friends with.

| I am serious about the creative energy in thinking up the new schemes to sell the books to authors. I wish I had a unique and new creative idea every day that I could implement. If it's one person, they are a true talent. They must also have quite a software package to keep track of all the discount offers running at the same time. Now, they have softcovers, paperbacks, hard covers, and bargain hard covers and ebooks. In a changing market, they are poised for whatever takes off.
Then, there was the campaign for sending free books to bookstores, Oprah, the White House, etc. Recently, authors can put their picture on the covers. Making corrections was also a campaign. Multiply those times the 50,000 authors, they must hit a nerve now and then.
Even me. I still want five hard copies; but I am waiting for the offer that doesn't charge for shipping. Have you noticed, they also advertise books at the bottom of their emails. I like that one-liner and I think its a good idea for anyone to use as a signature for their own book.
While many of the campaigns feel absolutely absurd; the fact that they have a new one every day has to be a record. |

| Today's is a summary of the current seven or eight options in the categories of paperback, bargain hard back and photo covers, each with quantity and discount categories within....too complicated for me at this time. Too many choices confuse me. |

| Now, if I don't purchase my books they will raise the price by $5.00. I can either have the book at $9.95 or pay $29.95 later . What a deal! Sounds like a threat to me. |

| For those who did not receive this offer: Good morning: PublishAmerica announces a sharp increase of all softcover list prices. This is due to recent market conditions. Softcover prices will increase by an average $5 across the board. The price increase will take effect after this week.
PublishAmerica's PAperbacks and Bargain Hardbacks are not affected by the price increase. PublishAmerica recently introduced superlow-priced alternatives to all softcover books: http://www.publishamerica.net/PAperback.htm.
By alerting you to the softcover price increase ahead of time, you are given a final opportunity to stock up on current-priced softcovers before the price hike becomes effective. We are also giving you one more opportunity to activate your book's PAperback print version, if you have not done so yet. Softcovers and PAperbacks are available side by side. Note that there will be a $20 price difference between most softcovers ($29.95) and PAperbacks ($9.95). Go to www.publishamerica.net, use this coupon: FinalLow, and obtain a 50 pct discount on your purchase. Use it on your softcover only. All non-softcover orders under this coupon will not be processed, so you'll be wasting your money if you try. Minimum order volume is 9 softcovers. Offer expires Sunday. This order typically ships within 2 business days. By using the FinalLow coupon on your softcover order you will automatically activate your book's PAperback version if you had not already done so. Your new PAperback will show in our online bookstore within 48 business hours for ordering worldwide. Your purchase also gives you the 50 pct discount off the current list price of your softcover before next week's price increase takes effect. Also still available this week before the price goes up: our Buy-8-Get-40 offer, use Final8 coupon. See yesterday's email. All other coupons have expired. Thank you. --PublishAmerica Bookstore --------------------- Advertisement: PublishAmerica recommends "Boomtown Child" by Liz Chrysler, a collection of historical articles. | I sent them an email about 9 months ago saying that unless or until they reduce the retail price of my book I would not promote nor buy any. There is no deal they can offer that will change my mind. I wait for them to discontinue the publication or return my rights.

This is due to recent market conditions. What market conditions are those? The overall economy or their own personal situation? Abe -apparently you can buy your rights back for $49. Or so I've read. |

| I am a liar. I finally gave in. For less than $100.00, I get 5 books, my price lowered to $9.95 as opposed to raised to $29.95. I have been howling about book prices. |
