I agree Ann. Perhaps I need to read it again.

A couple of other old books, Carol, that I would guess you might have read: Jonathan Livingston Seagull (no relation Odd thoughts... - Page 2 Icon_smile) and Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah, both by Richard Bach. I still pull those, especially Illusions, out once in a while.

And yes, space-time is one of the illusions we humans think of as necessary reality. I remember reading somewhere that eternity as an endless stretch of linear time doesn't work with the new physics, but that there are many other possibilities. This life and this place, I believe, represent only a very small part of each "self."

Ann,

I have read those books, and have one small book by Bach in my end table, Messiah's Handbook. He has wisdom that comes from a special place.

Another one to reread.

I have survived when I should not have, and am puzzled by the afterlife. Perhaps the two are connected and I have a few things to do right here and now.

Odd thoughts... - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Odd thoughts...   Odd thoughts... - Page 2 EmptyThu Apr 01, 2010 9:36 am

In a telephone conversation at the weekend, my mother talked about her own need to believe that she will meet my brother again, not as a person or a spirit. She wants to know that he's okay and that, wherever they are, they are together. It's a state of mind. If her son had been a serial killer or deviant of one kind or another, would she feel the same way? I doubt it. For parents of children who turned out "oddly" there can be no desire to meet them in the afterlife. So, life is for the living and, at the point of death, we will have chosen our own way of letting go and accepting what lies in store for us.

No one will ever be able to prove your brother-in-law wrong, Carol. If it gives you comfort, imagine the afterlife to be the way you want it to be. You will not be disappointed.

Carol, if you've never read any Seth books (Seth Speaks, for instance), I highly suggest that you do so. He (the entity that came through Jane Roberts) said death could be compared to walking out the door into the beautiful fresh air and sunlight after having endured a crowded party where everybody is smoking up a storm *cough cough* and acting like drunken idiots (or words to that effect).

I discovered Seth at a time in my life when I really needed him.

Thanks for the link, Kitty. I've heard of Seth, but hadn't checked it out. I will give the site a look.

Carol,
Jesus promised He went to prepare mansions for us. I believe that.
I am upset with churches, but, I am still a believer.
Fear no evil. God is good, very good.
Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard. This world is beautiful, heaven will be much better.

Ann,
when you mention certain books, I realize why we have much in common. Your suggestions to Carol are good.

And Carol, try not to be too anxious about the hereafter. Wherever we are going is where we originated. The most calming book that put things into perspective for me was "The Bood of Secrets" by Deepak Chopra. You may find it comforting.

Regardless of what we read, when the end draws near, our faith, our ingrained religious philosophy, flashes back. The internal conflict of "who is right" or "what is right" can cause anxiety where peace should prevail.

Anyone who has been near death, or contemplated death in whatever manner, has faced these questions. Ann's reference to Ron Kruger's book is good. Since you have it, a second read may be helpful.

In the past days my thoughts have turned to this subject based on a pending event in my life. I don't think anyone can give us peace of mind. It is something we acquire through faith or belief, whatever that may be.

Abe, whatever you have coming up, surround yourself with the White Light of Protection. You can start doing it now...the more you do (visualize) it, the stronger it becomes. So be it.

There's a great book I read once, it got
lost in so many moves, it's called " Life After
Death," It opened my eyes.

It is good to have you here Kitty.

Everyone is giving some good remarks. I have known people who have had near death experiences. What amazes me about them is their lack of fear. They explain a state of complete peace.

Alice,

Exactly. I agree. I love the living part and decided a while ago dying isn't in my hands at all.

Anyway, today we sat out on our screened in porch for the second time this spring. The temperature was 80 degrees today and gorgeous! All winter I dreamed of sitting on the screened in porch and it was every bit as enjoyable as I imagined it to be.

Our garden is filled with yellow flowers: crocuses and daffodils! They are beautiful and the most flowers in the neighborhood. One year we planted hundreds of bulbs and they come back every year more beautiful than ever.

Living: I can do that well. Tomorrow Tom is going to work in the garden and I'm going to sit on the deck and supervise, help him decide the difference between weeds and flowers.

Love, Carol

Carol, I grew up in Wisconsin (probably around the same time you did Odd thoughts... - Page 2 467431 ), near LaCrosse. Yes, the winters are bitter and the summers can be scorchers, but it is a beautiful part of the country.

I know people who never moved from their native state. Are you one of them?

Kitty, my brother-in-law grew up in LaCrosse, a nice city on the Mississippi.

I grew up in Illinois and moved here in 1975.

You are probably more the age of my children or grandchildren!

Today, it looks like we're going to the Milwaukee Zoo with my five-year-old grandson and his family. It is a bit ambitious, but sounds like too much fun to miss!

Hah, Carol, if only that were true. LC thinks I'm "more the age of" your children or grandchildren, though, don't you LC? Say yes! But now the truth be told. Gulp! Hey, it is what it is....gotta accept it, right? Nuthin' we can do about it.

Joe, I love cats. Miss Dusty (do you ever call her just Dusty?) is a fine-looking feline. (I live in the beautiful Hudson Valley section of NY, BTW.)

My husband (who died 11 years ago) and I had two wonderful cats, mother and daughter. Both lived to be over 20 years old. They came into our lives during the time we lived in the Catskill Mts. (where I was almost murdered, 'nother story), and we took them back with us to the Manhattan apartment, where they adjusted very well.

The calico, Boggles, is my mascot to this day, and I often dream of her. Dear, dear Boggles! Angelique, her daughter (who was born on the back porch in the Catskill Mts.) was a docile, sweetie-pie -- Boggles was the boggly-eyes feisty one.

I don't have a cat anymore. It's so sad when they die....maybe that's why.

Cats rule! Odd thoughts... - Page 2 94519

The Catskills are beautiful. I've been in the foothills. My daughter-in-law is from Middletown. She and my son married on a peak near Bloomingburg, where they lived until a couple of years ago. My son met her while he was in grad school at RPI. Texas has lost him forever to the northeast. From my visits there, I understand why.

Kitty...

Yes that's true, I had a beautiful black
and white cat , her name was Suki, she lived to be
19 1/2 yrs. old. I have a picture frame on my desk
with a cat's photo and a Meow medallion hanging
over it, it states: " Dogs come when they are called.
Cats take a message and get back to you later." How
true this is...
