Squash Flowers = Viagra

Today I went to the doctor and my daughter minded the farm and the customers. She is so lovely.

When I retuned, she had had a customer who wanted to pick squash
flowers. He was, as she described him, "on the short side"with a four hair
mustasche,
the new hearing aids installed that very
morning and was looking forward to surprising his grandchildren who lived with him and talked to him like he was a retarded soul
because he could not hear.

Lovely.

I wish I could have been here.

You all see how remarkable my brain is after a couple of vodka drinks. I completely forgot about the viagra connection. The little man with the hearing aids told my daughter that squash blossoms were better than viagra. I think I will use that line when someone asks about squash.

As for the doctor, They took scrapings of my scalp to send off for a biopsy. I now wear a hat. It is not as lovely as Carol's beret but it keeps the sun off of my head. A hat takes a little getting used to. I dare not look in a mirror when I put one on. I laugh so much I get nothing done.

Shelagh, you sure do look 'sporty' in that cart with your hat on!!

Funny thing about hats is that you sweat in them if you are in the sun. Pretty soon, I imagine that they must stink like dead onions or old shampoo and exfoliated skin cells. How does one clean a straw hat, refresh it, so to speak.

Not much about me works any longer, but my sense of smell is acute. If someone has just showered their body and not washed their hair, I know from the smell of the dead skin cells on their scalp that they have preserved their haird-do.

It is a subtle smell of used hair. No other way to tell it.

When I smoked, I could not smell a thing.

Now, I can smell right off if someone smokes, has been near a smoker, lit a fire, sat by a bon-fire or cooked something on the grill. I can tell what fabric softener you use, what tooth paste, what hand lotion.

At any moment I may go off on a memory trip just from Foster's beer on your breath.

It is a curse!

I told David I would buy the Breathe Right Strips and he ran from the room and hid under his pillow. hahahahahahahah..

The photo was taken at home in Glasgow. I have laughed myself silly (an easy thing to do!) putting (and cheating!) on the back lawn. My wee friend is the daughter of a former master's degree student from Brunei (supervised by my husband).

Just a quick though on 'squash flowers'. Maybe that is why Squash Blossom necklaces are so popular in the S.W. portion of the U.S.!
