| When I think of a place that a person could go and pick the flowers that would go into a vase in their house, or just a place that one could take a child to see flowers growing, or go themselves and stroll down a lane of blooms, I am inspired to develop this as a part of the hydroponic gardens. What say you lovely people? Would you go off the beaten road to the country for a day of picking flowers? Maybe just to see flowers growing? I need to know. Love, Betty |

| Betty, That is a great idea. And to have it along with the rest of your garden might be just delightful! Who knows? Perhaps some who do not fancy flowers might change their minds when they see them growing so close to the veggies! You might be opening a whole new world to quite a few. |

| There is a woman out on the highway who grows fields of perennials. Her place is known as "Gloria's Flowers" and people come from miles around. However, it is not just for picking them but to purchase them roots and all and put them on one's garden. And her "fields of flowers" are so beautiful. I almost always have had flowers in my house. I have lots of perennials and wild flowers. Up north I have a whole garden of wildflowers I planted in a hodgepodge. One year I was planting seeds with my granddaughters and Megan took a package of seeds into the woods, not where I wanted to plant them at all. They were supposed to be in the "wild flower patch." She twirled as she let the seeds go into the air. Every year they come up, although I am always surprised as there is not much sunshine in the woods. We call them "Megan's Flowers." They are beautiful. Love, Carol |

| I'd stop by to see them, Betty. Perhaps it is because of the numerous ethnic groups living here from European countries where flowers are important, the Akron area is loaded with flowers. Most yards have them and with more than 800 miles of hiking trails you find them in the wild. The national park that begins here and extends north to Cleveland is full of them. The Greenbelt that surrounds Cleveland (except on the north, which is Lake Erie) is loaded with flowers. In warm weather our balconies become jungles of plants and flowers. When we had lunch in Belgium with a family I know, the lady of the house changed the floral arrangement on the table three times during the meal. |

| Dick, I would say your hostess was a bit energetic, or was she trying to diistract your attention away from the food? Maybe she was feeding you horses hoof or even her vile neighbor. Suspicion is warranted

| Alice, I knew you were talented but didn't realize you could walk on water until now. Actually the food was great at that lunch. The Belgians know how to eat. That evening they held a seven-course banquet for us that began at 6 p.m. and didn't end until after midnight. They had Jackie crying when they started it off by having all 30 or so people stand while a recording of the Star Spangled Banner was played. I enjoyed it all except when they served little orange-colored things whose eyes were staring up at me from the plate. I closed mine and gulped them down. |

| One time I ordered trout in Germany and when the plate came the fish was staring at me. They did take it back and chopped off its head.

| Dick,
That's not the same as changing the flowers on the table, but I did appreciate it. I don't like my dinner staring at me.

| Betty, I think it's a great idea. I love having fresh flowers in the house, all year long. There are lots of farmer's markets here that sell them, and I frequently pick up local ones in the summer and fall. Imagine how cool it would be to take our kids and go flower picking and arrange what we cut. If you get loads of them, you can set up a stand on the roadside and sell bunches of them with your produce. A few short years ago - before knowing Zada, or I'd have arranged a visit, I saw the most wonderful flowers at the Pike Market in Seattle - I wished we could have brought them back across the border, because they were stunning. |

Love, Betty Betty, what a beautiful thread you started with spring not too far round the corner. In late spring I would not miss the amethyst tinge that carpets the bluebell woods: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=bluebell+woods&gbv=2 In summer I would not miss the crimson glory of poppy fields: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=poppy+fields&gbv=2 |
