My David

We got the diagnosis today.  He has a cancer pushing on his vena cava.  It is stage 4.  I have no more words.  Praying. Love, Betty

Oh, my dear.  I am so sorry. Where are you seeing doctors?  I pray for the best doctors and treatment plan. I have no more words except that my heart goes out to you - I will put in a prayer at Silent Unity - they pray 24 hours a day for 30 days with each request for prayer. It can't hurt...

Betty, I can't express words to tell you my feelings.  Please know that I am thinking of David, sending whatever positive vibes I can and thinking of how this must make you feel.  Exhaust every source available seeking help and keep hope alive.

Dearest Betty, this is sad news indeed, and I am so sorry to hear it. Sending my very best wishes to you and your family.

Thank you all for the praying and the kind words.  Today, the doctors said that it was too close to the heart to try radiation right now so they will begin with chemo.  When it shrinks, it may be possible to do radiation and if it gets small enough they would go to surgery.  The chemo is expected to take 6 months.  The good news it that it has not spread to any organ and my David is healthy in heart and lung and liver and all.  He knows he will feel ill from the chemo and the doctors said they had pills for that.  I do hope so.  We age going to beat this one day at a time. Our hopes are high..

What a beautiful and old soul you are.  I do not mean that you are old but that your soul encompasses ages of grief and understands it.  I do love you. 
David is starting the Chemo tonight and he says that each sessions last 5 and 1/2 hours.  He is coming to and understanding of his mortality.  I hate that.  No one should have to really understand how fleeting time is.  We should be able to go on willy nilly like we will live forever.  He is saying we will make changes in our life and that he would like a beer.  Good God! I do love this man!

I have ungodly hair in the mornings.  One morning I got up and stumbled out in my robe with my hair all in knots and askew.  He smiled and came at me singing "Wild Thang, You Make My Heart Sing.......Damn!

Betty, give him whatever his hear desires.  You are both in my thoughts.  I find myself thinking of you and David throughout the day.  It reminds me of my own mortality and want to make each day count.  Glad to hear they have started treatment.  It is also good to know that he will be home with you.  That I believe is helpful to his well-being.

I have been cut off from everything for some time and just checked in and learned the sad news. I am so sorry to learn about David's illness. Nothing is beyond God's power, and there can be no fear for good people as they will be healed, sometimes in this world, but always in the next. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My David is feeling well except for the swelling from the waist down.  His privates and legs and feet are so swollen it is hard to sleep or walk.  We are hoping that the next chemo will shrink  the mass enough to let the blood flow back to his heart from his legs.  We maintain a hope that we need to do.  One day at a time and sometimes one hour.  When I think of how sorry I have felt for my self with a small malady ...

You are so right Betty, it's one day at a time.  That's all it ever is really.  My mom's physician reminded us of that the other day "Live each day well," he said and looked at me. I'm so glad you are surrounded by nature - may all around you bring both of you some joy in these trying days.  d
