If you'd like to see where I spend my time, the above url is a list of the stories I have written recently for the Spotlight News Magazine. It is online and in print with about a 35,000 distribution, 24,000 direct-mailed to homes in gated communities and is located on about 100 racks locations in Southwest Florida, mostly N. Naples, Bonita Springs and Estero and growing.

When I began three years ago, they were quite new.  They have grown considerably.  They have two issues, one for Bonita/N. Naples and one for Estero.  They publish two times per month in winter and one time per month in summer.  In the past I wrote as many as 14 articles on every subject imaginable sometimes in winter.

Since I am paid by the article, that was thrilling from a financial perspective.  As a reward for my loyalty and diverse talents, the magazine has grown to add more writers, thus instead of my income growing with magazine growth, it has diminished.

I thoroughly enjoy the interviews and the events from Great Ape sanctuaries and elephant sanctuaries to university solar arrays and cooking with Brian Roland at Crave Culinaire.  I would likely be a total recluse with my computer and Published Authors if not for my magazine articles.

Thus the reduction in my income by the increase in the number of writers will just be written off to the fact that journalism at the local level has never been a bread winning career and at this point in life, I doubt a Pulitzer is in the near future.

Our magazine (I call it "our" because I enjoy its stories and the owners are very nice people and community minded) - anyway, our magazine emphasizes what's right in a community instead of what's wrong.  It's a happy news piece to read and a happy one to write.  We do a lot with art and it adds beauty to our local world, mine in particular.

Here's my latest writing venture - if you click on my articles I benefit a few pennies - literally.  AXS.com is part of AXS.tv and required vetting to be selected as a writer.  They have definite standards, requirements and an editor staff.  They make article assignments.  I like it so far for the experience.  The more clicks on my articles, the more I'll like it as a career addition. The articles need to be entertainment industry related.

Thank you for taking your time with my writing.  I've sure been writing a lot.  The recipients of my writing (editors) are mentioning things that cause my learning curve to grow every day.  I guess that's good for my brain whether the pay is great or not.

Here I am with another issue of Southwest Spotlight magazine.  I wrote most of the features and I'm quite proud of some of them.  Spotlight  If you do take the time to look at the articles, the page view is the best.  I always appreciate your comments, good or bad.

I really would like to have a best-selling (in all categories, not just a few) book that was turned into a movie, Ghost Orchid in particular.

However, my life as a writer is good.  It's not money, but it is a lot of enjoyment.  The local paper puts me in a position to interview and participate in so many things that I would otherwise miss, glued to my introverted computer.

AXS.com gives me the credentials to receive press passes to any entertainment venue for which I request them.  I just don't have enough time to go anywhere with so much writing for so little income.

If you click on my AXS.com articles - usually about some entertainment venue - I receive a few pennies per click.  So far they don't add up to enough for them to send me my check...but hope springs eternal :-)
