| 10/12/2013 I just received yesterday something I ordered to make your own potato chips the healthy way " Chip-tastic." I'm going to make some today, the store bought chips are so "SALTY!" I can't use salt anymore, I use Mrs. Dash table blend...Watch video https://www.buychiptastic.com/?mid=3369485 Cheers..Joe... |

| lol, I haven't seen a Ronco commercial in years. Let us know how they turn out! I have a dehydrator I use to make banana chips with and really like. It's a lot of work, tho.
That Chiptastic thing basically just looks like a plastic holder for potato slices. The hard work would be slicing them thin enough -appears you have to do that manually- and then cleaning the thing out. That's what keeps me from using the dehydrator more, cleaning it up afterwards. |

| As an apparent kitchen expert, you must be familiar with the mandolin. |

| I've seen slicers that would make thin potatoes (on tv). Publix makes tortilla chips without salt - pretty good but still oil. There's another brand - something like Mission - Mexican that makes very thin tortilla chips and does make salt free but sort of hard to find. They are really good.
Baked potato chips are made from potato mush that's spread out and baked. You could try that... |

| 10/12/2013 It's very easy to use, the mandolin comes with it, it slices the potatoes paper thin, you have to make sure potato slices are very dry with paper towels, fold the slices put in the holders add very little salt and cook in microwave for 3.35 minutes.. They come out very crisp.....Store chips usually have 2000 grams of sodium , mine less than 2 grams... Cheers..Joe.. |

Williams-Sonoma has several versions of the mandolin, ranging from this $14.99 version up into the $300 plus versions.
I have one of the cheaper versions and it works just fine.

| Joe, have you tried Morton's Nature's Seasons? It has some salt, but combined with pepper, parsley, garilc powder, and onion powder. I takes very little for a good flavor combination - so almost no salt. You can find it on the lower shelves, near other Orton's products. |

Cheers..Joe... A good thing about Nature's Seasons - not that much pepper, just a bit of savory flavor. |

| My son-in-law's French cousins were very amused, because we called it a MAN-duh-lin instead of a mahn-do-LEEN |
