Yeah For Obama!

you know, this year I am 70 and next year I will be 71.   There is no lie there.  How can anyone put that trash up.  Maybe they do not know that they each and every one advance a year every year and the number goes from 50 to 51.  What trash!
I am amazed that the REPUBLICAN people have no more education than that.  Put their faces in toilets and flush their brains.

I have to add Betty to that priceless list - and a few more who think.  There are those who have a fixed opinion and gather the evidence to prove it's so.  Then there are those who gather information from many sources, including their own instincts and internal wisdom, and carefully propose an opinion.

You are so right, DK, the hateful people will soon be in the minority here and I wonder if
they will be happy to be treated  as  they have treated others.

I would behoove them to proceed with extreme caution.

To see our crumbling roads, bridges, trains and  airports, when they could  be renewed with some money and  at the same time provide jobs is  very irritating.

What happened to DK?    She deleted some of  her posts.

When I see some of the comments that are so hateful and come from propaganda instead of careful thought I realize that my words and those of thinking people have no voice. The voices of insanity are so much stronger.

Therefore, I am going to start deleting my past comments and stick to matters of "less consequence."

I can change nothing, so I might as well keep my knowledge and insights to myself.  As you can imagine, it will be a challenge.  Hope is a pitiful light to put out.

I wish you would not delete your posts.  They are a beacon of  light in that hate.  The light of reason must not be extinguished!   Do not silence you own voice.   It is truely "a matter of consequence."

It just took me five minutes to keep my new Kindle keyboard from changing your name to DO.  So I am feeling a bit frustrated already, so please, my friend, do not add to that by suggesting your invaluable comments are not worth the insights they always provide. You are one of the few voices of reason here. Your perspectives are an irreplaceable part of our learning experience here. If you don't participate, the closed minds gain an audience.

You bring tears - you are too kind.  I am insignificant in this era when hate abounds instead of reason. Every breath is an excuse to search out the ugly and the detrimental instead of the hopeful and beautiful. 

Name-calling and demeaning labels seem to be the accepted norm to stop people from expressing well thought out ideas based on facts instead of bias and propaganda.  I don't need that ugliness in my life.

You are right that many voices of reason are posting to this board and I do not wish to leave them to the wolves, either.  However, I speak too often I think and who am I?  I had a life experience that gave me insight and wisdom yet I am unable to use it any longer to benefit anyone.  For a while, I tried to put it out in words in hopes that someone would take my thoughts, add them to their own and run into the world and make the difference I cannot.  Now I see my words as posturing into the wind except for the kindness several of you have expressed.  Thanks.

Perhaps it's a mood.  While I'm in it though, I will be systematically deleting my posts.  Not all of them, just the more passionately political ones.

You have to do what you think is best.

I still believe that every voice of compassion and reason helps bring a new worldview into being, just as every voice of hate pushes it a little further away. That is why speaking out is so important.

It isn't about taking part in useless arguments. That only adds to the animosity, which adds to the negative atmosphere. But having a voice and using it to say what we think is an important part of the solution.

I remember some lines from a favorite poem by Arthur Clough:

Say not the struggle naught availeth,
The labour and the wounds are vain,
The enemy faints not, nor faileth,
And as things have been, things remain.

If hopes were dupes, fears may be liars;
It may be, in yon smoke concealed,

Kindness has nothing to do with this.  You do not just speak for your own self, but for many people like me who do not have the ability to express what you so eloquently say.  You have the experience to back up what you say.  You have the passion and the integrity. 
I, too, have been maligned for my opinions by people who are more vociferous than I.  Loud mouths must not be allowed to win without someone saying something.  I promise that I will do my best to discount the lies. 
I am surprised that people I have known for life post on facebook some of the worst trash ever concieved.  I believe it is because they make around 100 thousand a year and feel that they are special and apart from everyone else, kind of included in the rich people facade. The truth is that their 'wealth' is nothing compared to the people who would rule this world.  They have been sucked in. 
Facebook is an eye opener, for sure.  I can see why potential employers may peruse that site.  People really let their inhibitions, ignorance, religion and attitude fly right out there in the face of people they do not even know. 
I hope that you reconsider the deleting.  Once you have said something, if you still believe it, let it stand.
